Guys, please don't take this as a rip because it's not - this is a genuine post - something is up. I'm worried. Something weird is going on with Pavlik. He's less vocal, the rumours of drink abuse, the constant injuries and most recently him pulling out of the Williams fight; something - definitely - very strange is happening and I believe that 100%. it's the backstories and the manner of all these matches failing to come to fruition that lead me to this view. Yes, I realize the drink thing is a rumour but these things usually have an element of truth to them even a small one. He may not be hooked on the drink but maybe something is mentally affecting him (Hopkins?) so he gets down and has the odd drink which some observer interprets as a problem....I dunno but you get what I'm saying these things start in weird ways. It could be big fight stage fright for the big fights now he's been beaten and has everything to lose (like his belt) I just don't know. Maybe I'm being paranoid - I might be. Whatever the reason I truly wish Pavlik the best and hope to see him in some big matchups soon so to Pavlik I say: "Yes, people expect big things from you but all you can do is your best; you are only human. Hope to see you in that ring again soon win or lose Kelly" :good
I am also. He could clear all this up, or at least give his side to the story, if he came out and gave a conference or an interview instead of letting Arum or Loew speak for him. He used to be WAY more accessible prior to Hopkins. But most importantly, he's just got to get back to being an active fighter.
I just wish Kelly pulls his stuff together. Say whathever you want, but he's exciting and has a strong following, whether you root for or against him, boxing is better with him.
Aren't you one of Kelly's biggest haters? I know I have sean threads and posts of yours ripping Kelly and calling him a coward for not fighting AA. Why the sudden turn around.
Its a shame how boxing fans have conditioned fighters to think if they take an L all hope is lost. As far as I'm concerned he was simply overmatched and outwitted in the fight. What happens after that is you watch the tape adress the weaknesses and avenge the loss. But nowadays you lose a fight and "hes all hype", "he lost to a 40 year old", blah blah blah. I hope this isn't the case with him. If it is I'd like to see him vacate the straps so things can move on in this division.
Pavlik needs to sort himself out. OK so he lost to Hopkins, there's no shame in that. He's still the middleweight champion of the World and he earned it. C'mon Kelly you're a fighter.....so act like it!
Pavlik hasnt fought for 6 months. Its not a crazy amount of time but time enough to start to get rusty. I do believe the infection is real and lingering around so I dont blame him. I blame his camp and Arum for not taking better care of him. Facts are facts--he is the camps cash cow. I personally would make sure hes healthy at all times if I was in that camp.
The Hopkins fight was nearly a year ago he needs to get over that ****, whats done is done it wasn't his night!!, if that,s still bugging him he's mentally weaker than i thought :-( **** everybody loses move on with your life, and MAN UP:smoke
Hopkins is still affecting him? If that's the case maybe he should retire because obviously boxing isn't his sport. Try darts, perhaps. I doubt Bhop is in his thoughts - if you read Thomas Hauser's article about the fight, Pavlik seems a pretty strong guy mentally, and quite aware of what the Hopkins fight meant, and IIRC ruminated that even legends like Ali lost fights. So, I doubt very much ol' Popkins is ****ing with his mind still. He'll be back...after whatever else is sorted out in his life. If anything, I'm sure he'll be seeing how the Super 6 Tourney turns out...and try to get in the mix to fight the winner.
For the umptee-millionth time, there is NOTHING UNUSUAL about a recurring staph infection. It can appear to be completely gone, and fliar up severely literally over night. When KP had that minor surgery on the same knuckle, it was most likely a procedure called debridement (dee-breed-uh-munt.) That involves the removal of dead, damaged, and/or infected tissue. You leave a nice clean hole surrounded by healthy tissue, and hope it heals properly. Sometimes it heals over the top, and does not heal on the inside (called tunneling.) The conseuquence of that is often a reoccurence of the infecton.
I know who i'd rather share a beer with, and it aint Bernard !!! but the fact is BHop ruined Pavlik!!.Another poster pointed out that even legends like Ali lost, thats true,BUT Pavlik, his team, his fans, and lots of neutrals thought Kelly was going to walk through BHop.Ali may have lost fights, but he was never schooled and embarrassed for 12 rounds. I really did like Pavlik, but his whining and excuse's since the BHop loss have made me wonder whether he has the substance or the desire to lay it on the line again.I wouldn't be surprised if he never fought again.
