I have to say that I was sort of pulling for Brock because I wanted to see a phenom come into the heavyweight division. However, I think that he still may become that, if he works exclusively on his sub defense for a while. However, I can't help but be very happy for Mir, who after that accident just looked so bad... and knowing that he has worked so hard to come back from it. It is nice to see him have a great moment like that. Even if he doesn't do anything else worthwhile, that win probably means a lot more to him than it does to Brock. It was only Brock's second fight, and one hell of a leap for a guy in his second fight.. AND he had a good showing. Great learning experience for Brock, and great win for Mir.

I was pulling for Mir (and actually predicted a leglock to end it) because I didn't want dumbass UFC newbies to think all it takes is a big brute to smash through people and be the best. I was more pulling for technique over power and brains over brawn. The fans booing over Brocks loss just proved it more to me that all they want to see is a big dumb brute pounding someone. I love MMA but thes American fans are embarrassing.

I felt that Brock was very classy in defeat too. That put him up a notch in my book.

agreed, but I thought his Vince McMahon written pre-fight **** talking was making me not want him to win. He sounded like the meat-head he looks like. Again though his post fight interview was good, sounded alittle humbled.

I don't think that it has anything to do with being humbled. I am amazed by how every time people buy into the pre-fight hype. Brock Lesnar is an entertainer... you don't think that Dana White is telling him to sell the fight? Whether you buy it to watch him win, or buy it to watch him lose... you are paying the same price... and they are making money. People need to stop drawing conclusions from watching a guy talk **** in the pre-fight interviews. You could tell from his all-access, and from any other time that he speaks, that he is a very humble guy.

I realize he is selling the fight, thats what they all do, but you can tell that he has experience in hyping things. I personally just don't like **** talkers thats all. I beleive he was humbled abit, I think he bought his own hype some and thats why I believe he was humbled. I think he truly thought he was gonna smash Mir to bits and have no trouble at all with him, and when that didn't happen he realized wow this MMA thing isn't gonna be a cake walk.

I think he showed he had a real chance in beating Mir, it wasn't just hype he was controlling him easily and giving him a beating for his trouble, he just couldn't avoid mir's submissions which are world class.

Lesnar has been training for a very long time. I think that he has taken it serious since the very begining. If he thought it was a cake walk, he wouldn't have trained for so long before taking this leap. Also, you could tell that his nerves were going a little as he came into the cage. He knew that he was in for a fight, and he knew that he could lose. I don't think that it is all hype surrounding Lesnar. Look at how he performed in his second MMA fight, against a former Champion and world class submission fighter. Made a rookie mistake as inexperienced fighters do. However, I think that he also clearly showed his dominance and physical attributes in the little bit of the fight that we saw. This in a fight that I am suprised

There are still going to be learning experiences and several questions to be answered with Lesnar. Can his stamina hold up an entire fight? Does he know how to pace himself? Can he take punishment? Can he actually improve his sub defense, or will his bad habits be impossible for him to break in the heat of battle? All questions that will need to be answered, but I was impressed with what I saw. Also, I am not so sure that most fighters are going to be able to ask Brock those questions in a fight.

There's a huge difference between just training, and then training after you have some fights under your belt. It takes these kind of experiences to get through to a fighter what he needs to work on in the gym. I gaurantee he'll learn twice as much in the gym between now and his next fight than he has in the last two years.

I guarantee that Eric Paulson will drill his ass on how to defend a knee-bar.

Both fighters gained my respect. Mir looked very good against that clumsy oaf. Lesnar was a gallant loser.
