he's more known for ducking Manny Pacquiao than his achievements.

If you don't understand the words you use you shouldn't use them.

Ali had 'color' when he offended people. He had an obvious persona and you could tell the difference between the man and the persona. Tyson was his own man no persona people loved him for what he did in the ring and hated him for what he did outside the ring.

There's no denying Mayweather sparks huge interest. Him and Pac achieve the same levels of interest but the difference is people actually like Pac. Pretty much the only people who like Mayweather are insecure black Americans.

there are some..interesting.. to say the least... thoughts up on here....

arum/promoters is/are the reason there is no fight.....

both dont need each other...... the fans need it.. to fuel there...part of being ... fans....

if ur true fan of the sport and art of boxing....

    uno how special floyd...really is.....

just like ..uno...how special manny is.....

    different style fighters....

    i like both.........

if they fight i like floyd...

but those who say pacquaio..will win....its justified aswell

but to try to deny either of them....of their ...greatness...is just bein...plainly...

    a hater.....

HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg released a four-paragraph, five-sentence statement Monday which cast doubt upon the veracity of Floyd Mayweather Jr.; Mayweather’s best friend, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe; Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer and which forever eliminated any doubt about Mayweather’s intention: He’s ducking Manny Pacquiao.

This kid was possessed of greatness. Problem is, he’s not a kid anymore. He has no injury. He has no excuse. The fight game is only as big as its biggest fight. So don’t decry the state of boxing. Decry the state of Floyd Mayweather. That’s the problem.

“If (Mayweather) wanted to fight him, he’d be fighting him,” said Mosley.

Translation: He doesn’t want to have anything to do with Pacquiao.

Floyd is still popular due in large part to the fact that his fans are totally insane and need to get off of his nuts!!

I agree with some of the comments here. the only reason why everyone anticipates his every move now a days is because they want to see him fight pacquiao. end of story. If Pac never moved up in weight & dominate the WW division, Mayweather would have no equal in the division and would just be looked at as an exceptionally good and boring defensive fighter.

If Pac never moved up in weight, all the *****s would be a Pac fan.
They ONLY HATE Pac, because he is a threat to their COWARDLY IDOL.

Neither Floyd or Pac make regular news here in the USA. Every now and then there will be a blip about boxing but that's it. *******s keep Floyd popular in THESE forums not by what Floyd does outside of the ring. Look at how many Floyd related threads are started by *******s trying to convince everyone how great their idol is compared to Floyd.

Floyd is the most known villain of the sport, while Pac is the face of boxing. Floyd keeps himself afloat because of his legal issues, and because Pac is constantly being asked about fighting him. He is popular just as much as Hitler is popular. Everybody hates him and everybody wants to be there when he loses. He's actually living under Pac's shadow right now.

true that. even Mayweather was a Pacquiao fan before he became a threat to his "0".

You can see him get up on his chair and cheer for him after he defeated Morales at the 2:31 mark. The video is not the best quality, but it's clear enough to see that he was cheering with the crowd.
