Whoever is shocked the fight turned out like that is stupid. Clottey stood in high guard and waited for Pacquiao's arms to slowdown or stop moving, like what he usually does in fights, and all Pacquiao did was keep firing. A nice win for Pacquiao but this doesn't change ****, in fact the one punch that Clottey landed constantly at will the straight right says more about this fight than Pacquiao's performance.
It didn't showcase anything new really by pac but lets not take anything away from his performance, he was immense against a big strong welterweight
What the **** does Mayweather have to do with this? Is it seriously your contention that Clottey didn't clearly lose to Margarito? You know what? Never mind. This is why I don't post much on this forum anymore. People are so wrapped in their stupid ****ing agendas that they won't even acknowledge basic facts.
Some things that I noticed: - Pacquiao struggled to pick apart Clottey's defence. I'd hate to see him try to land clean if Mayweather went into defensive-mode. - Clottey was landing counter punches throughout the fight. That straight right landed nearly every time he threw it. Floyd likes to throw straight rights. - Pacquiao didn't get demoralised or lose focus when Clottey refused to engage. - Pacquiao's relentless workrate and pressure makes it extremely difficult for a fighter to win by fighting defensively with minimal punch output. Floyd's gonna have to throw more punches than usual.
the title of this thread is "i am not as confident in mayweather" stick to "not posting" it serves you a lot better.
Beating? Clottey was not even marked. What fight was you watching. What people were shocked about was the lack of effort from the grandmaster who wanted to defend for 12 rounds.
People always bring up the Judah fight. Yes, Judah had some success against Floyd eary on but once Mayweather sussed him out, he was able to adapt and started to impose himself more in the fight. In the end it was an easy win.
I gave the first fight to marquez and the 2nd to pacquiao(based on 10-8 knockdown) I loved both fights though.
I have reservations because I fear the judges always go for the boxer with highter workrate. Nobody applies pressure and throws punches from different angles like Manny. Add to the fact that he can sustain it for 12 round. For me Mayweather cannot afford to try and win this by just being defensive and with a low out punch because that won't outscore Manny. He will inevitably have to throw alot more punches. I do agree that he has the footspeed, handspeed and footwork to match Manny. I also believe that Manny leaves himself open for the straight right and due to Money's excellent lateral movement he could definitely pick Manny off cleanly and make Manny think twice about lunging in. Which ever way you look at it I think both fighters will experience their hardest fights as a boxer.
