Loma is a great fighter and looks like he will be a top attraction and fighter but IMO he is still not on the level some people put him in.. Lik saying hes pfp # 1 and all that.. Naaaa. Not yet.. Way to early for that.. Needs more time.. Still hasnt fought an elite opponent.. Im still not on the wagon.. But I do like his style a lot and think he has a chance to be elite someday.
Well, lets go inside the numbers: if Money-May fought 12 rounds in every pro fight and 3 rounds in every amateur fight, that is (12x49)=588, 3 in every amateur fight that is (93x3)+ 279 for a total of 867. Lets say Hi-Tech, being the devastating amateur he was, averaged 2.5 rounds per fight, amateur, WSB and professional. That comes out to 990.
You can probably count on one finger how many people done what Lomachenko's done in 10 fights. Twist it any way you want, many other amateurs could have tried to do the same, many did and failed. Either way you cut it, what he's doing is impressive.
The hype is real to the extent he's an excellent, lower-10 P4P-er and an absolute top craftsman with a huge upside. But then again, that's not hype, that's reality. Hype starts when he appears on top 3 P4P lists (even #1 on some ), that idiot Teddy Atlas is crowning him as the best (achieved) pro while he doesn't even rank GGG, and when Garcia, arguably a more accomplished pro and a bigger name is... not big enough to be on Loma's list. THAT's the hype I'm not buying, cause, you know, that's pure TR / fanboy fantasy.
After Canelo-GGG and the Crawford Unification fight, providing Crawford wins, Lomachenko will be 4th. 1. Ward after taking Kovalev's soul. 2. Canelo-GGG 3. Crawford 4. Lomachenko
But its not like he's only had 10 fights is it? The WBS is fought bare chested and scored using the professional 10 point must system. He had 6 fights in that tournament and there really is no difference between those fights and the fights a pro debutante would have. You can argue it was only 5 rounders , but most pro's go 3 , 6 , 8 rounders in their first 10 fights.
Where do you train BJJ and Muay Thai, I assume it has to be in or around London, right? I am in the U.S. but would very much like a chance to train with you sometimes. it might be worth a trip to the U.K. we could ffilm it and put it up on here.
Very talented and skilled fighter? Yes. Top 10 P4P? Nope. He only has 10 fights against mediocre competition... one of which he lost.
