but i recognize that he did what he had to do to win the fight. I think most fans should take this boring performance with a grain of salt. Judge a fighter on the collectivity of his fights and not just 1. I'm sure that if presented with an orthodox puncher who likes to mix it up Wlad will be more exciting.
He was efficient. He didn't run, he was just throwing jabs, which is perfectly legal. And unimpressive but dominant victory.
Ibragimov is: Small Southpaw Fast ...and was trying to land counter haymakers whenever Wlad lunged in with anything more than a jab. Wlad did right in being cautious.
im going to be honest, im not trying to come from a nuthugging standpoint though hey, maybe i am... but how is beating a fellow titleholder, who hasnt lost before, and is an olympic silver medalist, with ONE PUNCH not impressive? i can understand that it was underwelming, and that he didnt go all out... but SURELY it is impressive that he won so easy no? if your just gonna say ya but he should have knocked him out... well then whatever, thats your opinion, i agree he should have done MORE, but i find it impressive this win too. just IMO
For me a dominant victory is one where a fighter regularly has his opponent hurt. I would say it was an easy victory for Wlad but not dominant by my standards. Calzaghe over Lacy, Hopkins over Tarver, Mijares over Arce, Donaire over Darchinyan, these are all recent performances that I view as dominant.
Wlad did what he had to do to win, I cant fault him for that. But for anyone to say Iggy was a tough fight for Wlad, you got to be kidding. Iggy showed limmited head movement, below average footwork, no combinations, and stood right infront of Wlad most of the fight. Manny was furious with Wlad, because he had a sitting duck right infront of him, but he was too afraid to pull the trigger for fear of being countered and possibly hurt or knocked down, thats not how a champion is suppose to fight, Wlad showed everyone in the division how scared he is to get hit, and dissapointed alot of fans last night that expected more out of the so called best Heavyweight in the division.
In my opinion, being dominant is hitting without getting hit, and it reflects on the scorecards. Under your logic, featherfisted fighters can't be dominant, because they have no power and will never hurt their opponents. So somebody like Willie Pep or Pernell Whitaker were never dominant.
Are you implying that Willie Pep and Pernell Whitaker never hurt their opponents? Even a featherfisted boxer can hurt his opponent when he lands a flush power shot.
