but Clottey is a good boxer too if your talking about skills, he has a great defense and he does effective stuff but his only flaw is lack of work rate and Cotto took his best shots.

Now, you are referring to Pac being this new boxer type and if he fought Cotto he would not be slugging with him, he would be trying to box him and are you telling me that Cotto will be outboxed by Pacquiao???

If you are then you are underestimating Cotto's boxing ability.

    Yeah right!

Pre-Margo, Cotto would have beaten Clottey convincingly. Instead, he was lucky he even walked away with a win.

Cheating or no cheating, it was obvious that beating Margo administered took something out of Cotto.

He is NOT the same fighter, and anyone who says otherwise is only trying to fool himself.

Pound-for-pound number 1 means you are the best at the weights you fight at, it most definitely does not mean that you have no glass ceiling in terms of weight and should fight anyone at the weight they choose. I don't recall Mayweather wanting to clean out light-middleweight after he fought at the weight, I don't recall Roy Jones wanting to clean out heavyweight after he fought there, I don't recall Bernard Hopkins wanting to clean out light-heavyweight after he fought there, I don't recall Julio Cesar Chavez trying to clean out welterweight after he fought Whitaker there, I don't recall Whitaker trying to clean out light-middleweight after he fought Vasquez there, and on and on and on....

P4P#1 does not and never has meant you automatically give whatever concessions your opponent fancies, and continually fight at a weight you are far too small for.

Pacquiao is beyond criticism in terms of weight-jumping. Way beyond. Any criticism of this former FLYWEIGHT world champion, former SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT champion, and former FEATHERWEIGHT world champion who was fighting at SUPER-FEATHERWEIGHT one year ago is absolutely ludicrous.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that Pac should fight Cotto or Mosley at 147 knowing they could blow up to 160, when he could make them meet him in the middle at 143-144. Why give away 10-12lbs against one of the world's best when you don't need to? It isn't fair and makes no sense. Pac isn't big enough for welterweight and never will be. It's a historic achievement that he is even competing at 140 considering where he started out.

The only man in history to win titles at flyweight and junior-welterweight. That record will not be broken in our lifetime IMO.

And for the record, your description of Pacquiao was indeed years out of date. That was the 03-05 raw version. Watch his fights, he is completely different now. Far better footwork and movement, far more elusive, far more variety to his attack. You are trapped in a time bubble that Pac will burst for you if he fights Cotto.

there is a difference in being a good, very good, great and an ATG fighter. you have to understand that in boxing there are different levels/classes of boxers/fighters.

Im not saying he didn't but to say that he is mentally weak when he fought with a 2 or 3 inch gash over his eye for like 9 rounds is a bit stupid.

He showed that he can fight at a disadvantage and come back from adversity which shows alot more about him and I respect him for this.

He constantly takes on the best and he always gives us a decent fight so what more do you want?

Im a real boxing fan and I would watch Cotto against any top welter because he is a warrior unlike guys like Mayweather who choose to fight smaller guys for big money, fooling everyone into thinking Marquez has a chance. This guy is just cashing in and we are the ediots lining his pockets and watching him in total mismatches...

    Cotto is a warrior

Pac will run miles around Cotto in and out all night. He can only hope at some point Pac slows so he can muscle him against the ropes.

Cotto looks good flashy has a nice array of punches but is not accurate. The only man with success against Pac has had some of the best precision punching in the game. A guy like Cotto will be made to look slow and sloppy.

    Pac will run through Cotto.

Okay, perhaps "mentally weaker" would have been a better way to phrase it.

Incidentally, I think Mayweather would embarrass Cotto at this point.

After what i saw last night i actually think Pac will give Cotto fits and at a catchweight with Pacs speed and left handed style Cotto will have big problems with him....I actually favor pac but Miguel could always land a bomb
