You sure about that?. As far as I know, he only does this because he enjoys it.

I have a hard time believing that he's broke. He lives in Pensacola, which has a low cost of living, has very few vices aside from fighting ****s, no multiple baby mamas demanding child support payments, no alimony payments, no ejections from casinos, no pending lawsuits against promoters, no memorabilia auctions, and no stories that I can recall about failed restaurant chains, repossessions or foreclosures. Those are all the usual signs of a broke boxer, and I don't recall any of them being associated with Roy.

Does that rumour that he's broke come from the fact that he's still fighting, or does someone have more information about his financial status?

Rumor was he was broke, but not sure how that is possible.

I have no problem with him fighting for fun. His last 4 wins were all guys outside the top 100. Personally, it's easy money for him and us as bettors. I would have put some serious dough on him to win by KO, which he did. He was only a 5-1 favorite outright, so odds to win by KO were probably less than 2-1.

    Yep I absolutely agree.
It's nothing new in several other sports.

I had no idea Jones was even fighting. The fact that he fights someone that no one besides the family knows the name of, in a different country, and not on any kind of TV shows that its time to hang em up

Spot on, let the guy earn some money.

Just don't put him in with any punchers.

Yeah, but as Tex Cobb once said "If you screw up in tennis it's 15-love. In boxing it's your ass."

I've got nothing against a senior circuit, but maybe they should fight with heavier gloves or something. The dangers of permanent damage increase as fighters get older.

I agree.... by the way Hector Camacho was the king of doing exactly that.

Why not a Holyfield vs Jones fight?... (I do realize that Evander announced his retirement)

Between his HBO gig, promotional appearances and occasional fights in eastern Europe, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he was making upwards of million a year. And he can sustain that for another 10 years if he wanted to. And he'll have a career at HBO for as long as he lives if he doesn't do anything stupid (Tarver).

RJJ will pick low-risk fights like this one with Fry to just be active, stay in the spotlight and make some cash.

It's the impending title shot that worries me, against one of the main 4 belt holders.
