Solis has good hand speed, but absolutely no foot speed. My guess is that Vitali should be able to turn him pretty easily.

Oh, and if my memory is correct, Vitali didn't have CHEF for the Johnson fight (I'm being serious, proper nutrition is a big part of it).

    Any word on Solis' weight?

If Solis is getting into shape I imagine his handlers will get the word out in order to hype the fight.

Incidentally, Solis' brother in blubber Arreola appears to have finally woken up to his conditioning problem and is in Houston working with Ronnie Shields trying to slim down for his next fight.

You maybe right, He does plod abit. I was just responding to the blind guy who thinks Vitali is the same as he was 4 years ago.

I will back the Gambo Express and I am not cuban.

Talk of just another Aerola or Kevin Johnson is poor. Even Sultan and Chagaev are miles below Solis. It is weight that is important to me. I understand his coach saving he is not bothered about his weight just how well he trains. However his weight comes down when he is motivated e.g. losing 11 pounds between Barritt and Austen. If he is taking this fight really serious he will be lighter through training harder.

If he loses weight through training rather than just trying to be lighter it will be a great indicator he is serious. My problem with Solis is he has never had a challenge as a pro. That worries me.

Idk. Naturally, Ibragimov and Solis are roughly equal size wise yet Ibragimov showed up to fight Wlad in good condition...and still got slaughtered.

Even so Solis is a live underdog if he comes in below 250--Vitali is not as strong as he once was.

Thanks for backing me up Peter! :good

You are right about many things, he was motivated about the Austin fight and lost 10 pounds so I am imagining that for Vitaly he will lose some more. I expect Solis to come around 255 to 257 for Vitaly. Now, you do have a point about Solis never having any problems or threats so far in the ring.

Not only in the pros but Solis also never had much problems with anybody in the amateurs, this guy simply won major event after major event for Cuba. In the pros he has never been tested or has never faced a really tough fighter who will press him to the max and it's a big question mark for all of us. :huh

But, if all indications are correct Solis was tested in the first round against Haye at the 2001 World Championships. Haye rocked Solis hard with a tremendous uppercut and Solis really felt it. But Solis came back even stronger, never backed away from Haye nor was scared nor impressed with that punch. And the conclusion was that Solis gave Haye a beating so immense that the ref was forced to stop the fight!

Solis not only has tools and skills for days but also " courage and a big set of &^%$# " ... :good

Like I said I'll make my pick at the weight in, but even a 260lbs Solis is miles ahead of Arreola.

Solis is going to get the Sam Peter treatment. He is going to get battered brutally.

I doubt Solis will amount to more than Peter (in other words not A level). Vitaly, Wlad, Adamek, and Haye, even Povetkin should all be able to beat him.
