I saw the Haye fight and didn't think he was hurt very badly. It was a great punch, but if I remember correctly he just sort of took it in stride...probably less hurt than Floyd against Mosely.

True, stunned but not seriously hurt. And he recuperated in 7 seconds and then gave Haye a Cuban boxing clinic ... :good

Happy new Year for you Hermano, it's good to hear from you, about Solis chin I can say that his chin is legendary in Cuba. Solis has never been K.O not even Knock Down in a Fight, The closest was Haye in the Worlda Championships in Ireland 2001 when Solis made a mistake and rushed in and got caught, but if you watch that fight you see that the punch effect on Solis only took about 3 seconds, if you see Solis eyes after he took that punch they were closed and his legs were wobly he was also falling down, ! He was K.O ! He was GONE ! But then something happens ( and this is the remarkable thing about Solis)! He pulls trought like if nothing happened, 3 seconds after that punch and he looks fresh as a cucumber, you can see it in Solis eyes while the referee was giving him the count !! That is the secret to Solis chin : His tremendous Power of recovery ! I remember the talks in Cuba after that fight , when everybody thought that he would lose the fight and how everybody was surprised when he turned the fight around, I say everybody eccept my good friend Pedro Diaz whose training him now, He told us a story about a 15 year old Solis visitin La Finca and how after some training as part of the Youh Team Cuba the young Solis asked to Sparr with Luna ( one of the heavy hitters of Preseleccion Nacional ) and everybody laughed but he kept insisting and in a second visit a few months later Sagarra agreed to it, Solis lost the fight closely but impresed everybody with his chin, they couldn't believe that a 15 year old kid already developed such a chin , this is somethin that takes time and not all boxers will have.No matter how hard Luna would hit him the kid refused to go down, They said that after that fight Sagarra looked to Savon ( who was present ) and told him that his time was coming to an end ( Savon of course denies this ) The people who talks about Solis beeing K.O in this fight are in for a rude awakening! They will be as surprised as the coaches at La Finca were, In this fight anything can happen but Solis getting K.O !!! Bueno hermano me despido y espero tengas Ache en este Año. Peace

The punch had more of an affect than the comments here. Haye ran up a lead after the punch because Solis kept his distance, until Haye ran out of gas. Solis then step it up and won comfortably.

To be fair to Haye he was a lazy amateur and even now some people question his stamina. If Haye had trained like a Cuban as an amateur it would have been a hell of a fight.

Haye claim to have hurt a shoulder after the fight and that was why his work rate dropped. Looking at it from the outside even if he hurt a shoulder the issue was lacking of training and running out of steam.

A rematch would be great as they both would fancy their chances. I think that is unlikely because Solis will be tied up if he beats Vitali. If Vitali wins I think he will face Haye unlike his brother. Heres hoping.

P.S If Solis wins, Wladimir will not fight him.

Hola hermano! Wow, tremenda anécdota de verdad! Let's speak English now for our American fans. I knew that Solis has a great Chin but din't know about these stories. You are talking about Diógenes Luna right? I remember his name but I don't think that I never watched him fight. But I take your word for it, he must have had great power, but like Savón? Savón in my opinion, is one of the hardest hitters of all times, ( including professional boxing ). Solis said in an interview that Savón could punch wholes through a wall !!!

This is precisely why I created this thread and why I am backing Solis 100% in this one against Vitaly. And it looks like even Vitaly is showing Solis a lot of respect in their recent interview of the press conference. I like Solis' attitude and confidence, he was asked what he felt towards Vitaly here is the script ...

Solis didn’t look too impressed by the champion’s superior physique (Klitschko is 6 inches taller than his challenger). When asked how he feels going into the toughest fight of his profesional career so far against a true champion, „La Sombra“ just smiled and asked: „What makes you think that this will be my toughest fight? Can you tell me what makes a boxer a strong or superior boxer? So far all guys I fought had two arms and two legs. I would understand your question if I would fight an opponent with three fists for the first time...“ At least at the press conference Klitschko didn’t show up with a third arm.

I like that attitude, now he needs to let his hands go and go after Vitaly like the Rocky movies with desire and agression. He cannot and will not win a decision ( unless he really batters Vitaly from start to finish ) because in order to beat the Champion the challenger really needs to convince the judges that he did enough to win.

Bueno hermano, it's very nice to speak to other Cubans here as well !

Good post Peter. But why do you think that Haye ran out of gas? I still saw Haye throwing a lot of punches in that first round after he gave Solis the uppercut. I don't think he gassed out, the reason he lost is cause Solis was throwing more and more accurate punches than him and landing at will. Let's be honest here, Solis gave Haye a Cuban boxing clinic ...

And why do you think that if Solis wins that Wlad will not fight him? I think it's actually the opposite, that Wlad will want to take revenge for Vitaly... :good

That's a great boxing story there Stevenson#1. Some great insight on that chin that Solis has. I know he's got a chin, but at 15 taking shots from a heavy hitter!

Vitali might beat Solis but it won't be by KO.

    Andale mi Compay!

Good analysis but remember that Solis has plenty of skills and amateur school to also outbox Vitaly. This is why this fight is sooo interesting! :good

Interesting it is. Yes, Solis does have plenty of skills and he will have to ude every bit especially cutting of the ring and getting on the inside. You know Vitali is going to try and keep Solis at the end of his jab and move around avoiding a slug fest. Vitali has a chin but it hasn't been tested in a while to see if he still gots it at his age now.

Yeah but anut has a pretty bad track record. He always blindly goes against the K brothers.
