He can't come down too much either, he needs to b on a weight that he can keep his strength and stamina, why look like Mr. Universe and can't go past two rounds? He has to b a his best not yours or mine, he gain too much weight for him to lose 45 lbs in two months.

Used to be fighters trained down for speed, even heavies. Fighter came in flabby he intended to lose.

I don't think Solis fought Povetkin but here is his most notable wins ...

    Solis best wins.

Cubans: Felix Savón (2 wins, 1 loss), Robert Alfonso 3 wins, Michel López Núñez (3 wins, 3 losses), Osmay Acosta (RSC), Yoan Pablo Hernández(2 wins) TKO & 10-1.

Non-Cubans: Islam Timurziev (1 win, 1 loss), Roman Romanchuk (1 win, 2 losses), Vyacheslav Glazkov (1 win), Kubrat Pulev (2 wins, 1 loss), Sultan Ibragimov (2 wins) and David Haye (1 win by TKO).

Didn't know that he also defeated Yoan Pablo Hernandez 2 times, Solis was/is a beast. :good

Totally agree. Juan Carlos Gomez got himself in very good physical shape for Vitaly and got himself KTFO. I think that 245lbs for Solis is perfect, as he will have better stamina, more speed and still have power. Anything less than that will actually hurt him as he hasn't fought that low since his amateur days around 5 years ago. Since Solis is short, he needs power behind his shots and at 240 pounds or less he will not have much KO power specially against these Russian giants! :good

It's not WAY TOO HEAVY like you say, way too heavy is when he fought Barrett which he weighed 271lbs, that was way too heavy and he still demolished Barrett way easier than Haye! At around 245lbs, Solis will be faster, have better stamina and keep his KO power. Like I said, anything less than that will actually hurt him.

Keep in mind that Solis has never been a KO artist, he won most of his bouts by points and stoppages but he never pocessed a punch like Savon, Tyson etc. So in the pros, he needs to be above the 245 pound range in order to punch harder, specially since he will be fighting guys above 250 pounds. :good

Yeah, Balado was great. I remember that he won the trophy of the " best boxer " in the 1992 Olympics! And there were great boxers in that tournament like Casamayor, De La Hoya, Ariel Hernandez, Chris Byrd, Savon etc. :good

Unfortunately Povetkin doesn't seem to have ever faced Solis, unless it happened sometime in 00-01 when Povetkin was still fighting at 201 lbs. They both won Gold at the 2004 Olympics, but Solis was at 201 while Povetkin was super heavy. Then Povetkin took some time off and went pro, while Solis moved up and started dominating at super heavy.

Can't agree with that. Speed (along with reach) was a key asset for Solis as an amateur. Speed kills, and Solis would be much faster if he was less than 230. How is slow fat pro Solis is supposed land effective shots on slick tall champ Vitali?

However I do expect a good fight if Solis shows up under 245.
