I do believe Solis has more of a chance at taking out Vitali than Briggs, Arreola, Sosnowski, Johnson, Peter, and Gomez had (even though he's overweight). But it all really depends on how dedicated Solis is during training and how much he wants that title come fight night. He has to apply maximum pressure and keep working Vitali with body punches in the early rounds to take away his legs. Solis has to keep the fight going at a fast pace without taking pauses like he did against Austin.

I got Solis as a live underdog in this one. He definitly has the tools, the speed, power and the chin to defeat Vitali, but I question his dedication. A Solis who is dedicated to the fullest can take out this 40 yr old Vitali. Vitali is a dedicated HW Champ, there is no questioning that, who is always in shape and mentaly ready.

If Solis looks like he's training his butt off and comes in at a better weight than what he did for Austin, there is a good chance at an upset. This is a very bold prediction Gamboa Express, you do understand that Solis will not be favored if it goes to the judges no matter how well and effective he boxes right? Solis will have to knock out the heavily favored Champ in his backyard. This is not impossible, but it is a tough feat.

You are blind and here is why:

    1. Solis is younger alright, but faster and stronger? Against Welliver and Austin, he was a plodding whale. Arreola is faster than Solis and Vitali outmoved him with ease.

    2. If Solis was very hungry for anything but foot, he would train and eat right. Hunger for success shows up in the lifestyle of a boxer, Vitali certainly isn't topped in that departement by an obese fighter.

    3. Beating Felix Savon twice is something that Chagaev also accomplished. Didn't help him much against Wlad and Vitali would have beaten him. Povetkin was an amamteur legend, he wouldn't beat Vitali.

    4. Solis' chin is untested at the elite HW level. Savon was amateur boxing, Chagaev took Savon's shots well, but Vitali would pummel him into oblivion.

    5. Nobody has ever used speed effectively against Vitali and Vitali thrives if constant aggression is brought to him. He struggles with slick defensive fighters.

Chagaev didn't beat Savon twice, just once and keep in mind that Chagaev had pro experience when he was competing as an amateur, that's why he later was disqualified. That's your opinion, and I have mine and we shall see on March 19 who was right...:good

Most of what he listed wasn't opinionated, but rather factual.

Briggs and Williams didn't push Vitaly hard enough, I saw the Briggs fight as Briggs was just a sitting duck waiting for Vitaly to unload. Solis will not just sit there and wait for Vitaly to smack him like all others have, he will also be providing some smacking of his own. Vitaly is a big bully who needs to be put in his place, Vitaly reminds me of Ivan Drago of Rocky 4, once Rocky showed no respect and went all out on him he forgot how tough he thought he was...:hey

Well Ivan Drago never gave up, GE you know I like my Cuban fighters and I'm a supporter but Solis hasn't show any respect for his fans coming so heavy, and if he was in shape when he fought Austin he would had koed him before the 4 round but he was pacing himself, and that he will not b able to do it against VK, he will have the jab on his face everytime he takes a break, he needs to train and train hard, that is why I'll wait until weight in and see it for my self, I don't beleive in trainers telling that fighters are working hard, especially with HW's, he needs to eat right and train properly, 2millios are good but 20millions are better, he needs to look at the big picture and go after this like it is no tomorrow.

Yup, this is true. Solis can't take a break, he has to keep pressure on VK and force him to fight off the back foot.

The problem with this is, Solis only throws 40+ punches per round....while Vitali can throw 90 punches a round (Vitali threw 92 in the 10th round against Arreola, and averaged 80 per round for the fight).
