Have to agree here, the Povetkin fight was appalling.

    DQ? Nope
There are boxers that do every kind of aggressive/offensive ****, and yet you never see a DQ.

No, but the referee should have warned him more, and announced that he would have started detracting points.
He should have also warned Povetking about ducking low and head first.
He was doing it too much, and great part of the clinches were due to that.

He is getting old and he is not good against, at least he does not look good against thsese guys who will pressure him and come inside.
But last few fights have been pretty messy fights, granted that. All that fouling, Povetkin fight icing the cake.

I think he will clinch alot against Leapai too. But if the Pulev fights happens, it will be better, good jabbing competition which Wlad will end late with few hard right hands to Pulev chin.

Someone should visit your Place before Leapai fight and collect all the fire arms, explosives away that you wont start to throw nades and shoot your neighbours with ak47 just because you got upset.

Wlad definitely looks better when facing an opponent of similar size. He's always had a tendency to hold too much or be to timid against smaller fighters. Which is one of the reasons why so many have bemoaned the fight with Leapai. Nobody expects the fight to be remotely entertaining.

His lack of an effective inside game and unwillingness to trade or take risks will always make him a fighter who will turn off many fans. Even for the purists who like boxers over brawlers find he's hard to watch. In terms of boxing style I'd call him a spoiler.

Wlad is also in decline he doesn't look as co-ordinated or well balanced as before which made the Povetkin fight worse. Prime Wlad would have stopped him.

Yeah, his earlier days he was exciting athlete. But his couple last outings haven't really been good.

Maybe that was because Wach was standing in front of him like a statue?

This is a point I have been wondering about myself. Wlad may have very well been in decline longer than we think but the level of opposition he has faced would never expose that fact.

Guys like Wach and Mormeck were never going to test Wlad, even on a bad day. I think Wlad could have beaten them without even bothering to train. Wach is the slowest heavyweight in a title fight I have seen since an old Foreman and even then I'm not sure if Foreman wasn't faster.

I think Wlad is interesting, though not particularly exciting. Look at what he says, look at what his goals are, and look at his technique in the ring. He wants to win, he wants to go fights without getting hit even once. He is extremely dedicated to his goals. That is interesting to me. But it does suck as far as normal boxing excitement goes.

Look back to his early days. He actually fought on the inside! He ripped body shots and uppercuts. He pushed opponents away and punished them with fast, short left hooks. That was cool. Today, he is a different animal. He has learned that his old technique is bad and high-risk and energy wasting. It does not suit his physique. Instead he leans his tall and heavy body on his opponents, making THEM extremely fatigued. It's just logic, bio physics.

Quite boring. At the same time I am fascinated by how well he does what he does. Very few boxers can find a way to beat him. That must count for something?

    Exactly what I was thinking.
He is maybe calculating (unconciously) the risk against the profit since he started to work with Steward, therefore holding inside is one of those mechanisms to minmize the risk of getting hit/fatigue.
I mean he continues to win so he is actually doing something right as you said, I hope he realizes that he is doing most of the boxing fans and even his own fans no favor when fighting safety first. He should go back to Fritz imo! (Jisi, w'sup?)
