Since Vitali is ranked by the WBO, he should fight a WBO ranked opponent for his " tune up ". Meehan is ranked by the WBO, and has no scheduled fight. If the Klitschko's want to be champion at the same time, Wlad could defeat Ibragimov for the WBO belt, then drop it and let Vitlai fight someone else for the WBO championship. If Vitlai can defeat Meehan, and a WBO opponent for the vacant WBO title, the Klitschkos will be world champions at the same time. Mission accomplished. Or Vitlai could wait for Peter vs Maskaev to happen, deal with WBC politics, and if he's lucky fight the winner of Peter vs Maskeav at a much later date.
Unkown! But he says he wants to get back into the ring. I think Vitali's back has had enough time to heal. The fight could be made in after Wlad vs Ibragimov. Then Vitlai has options and time to pick between the WBO, or WBC title. Meehan is a good come back opponent.
I personally hope he doesn't come back & cloud the title picture. We need one man to hold all the belts not two brothers sharing them.
Let's think about this for a moment. It will be hard for Wlad to collect three belts without some organization stripping him. However, if Vitlai held the WBO, then Wlad could go after the WBA or WBC. Vitlai could then retire when the time is right and the WBO belt could be vacant. Then Wlad could fight for the WBO belt while holding two others. Its plausible.
Vitali might not have the status to fight for the vacant WBO belt after beating Meehan. Tony Thompson is firmly WBO#1 after winning an eliminator. Alexander Dimitrenko will probably be at a firm #2 after having beaten Hoffman and then, if all goes well, Karsniqi.
Brittley has less of a chance at entering the ring for a prize fight than Alfonso Gomez does of dominating Miguel Cotto. But beating a journeyman like Kali Meehan would be one of the best wins for his resume.
