I am still not impressed with Sergio Martinez. Does anyone else feel the same?

Williams, Pavlik and Chavez Jr. You should be impressed.

Well, he didn't stop Jr. as predicted but he was still pretty impressive. Some on here say that he's slowing down but I really don't see it. He looks identical to the guy that fought Pavlik, IMO.

I don't get it either. If he's not on Monzon, Hagler, Hops and Roy's level we should stop taking about him? I'm emotional myself but not to the extent to lose my freaking mind.

Style wise, he's a tough fight for anybody 154-160. Right now nobody there will find the work easy. The fact that he can also be knocked down in a fight makes him even more exciting to watch. He does get caught on occasion with his bravado, it almost cost him last night, but his determination has to be admired, he was not going to let Chavez stop him.
He made 11 rounds of the fight look simple, easy. Chavez never could get set to punch, he had shots coming from everywhere, he was bloodied and could not find the key to unlock the door. I still believe Chavez can give most anybody at 160 a tough night and win a lot of them, but Sergio made him look like a bum.
Only time will tell how good this win really is, but it was an impressive masterclass of how to control a fight, against a much larger man to boot.

Martinez is a bit sloppy but He did get the job done. Hes nowhere near Ward in my opinion. JC jr is a tough guy and one can just imagine had He slugged it out early. I mean He looked tired from the opening bell throwing 5 punches.

Couldn't agree more. Martinez is ridiculously overrated. This was one of the main reasons I thought Chavez would beat him. Turns out, as you say, Chavez himself was overrated too, including by people like me

So now Chavez Jr is part of those "Martinez only fight bums" list? Yeah, lets discredit the man's wins every time he pulls it off. :patsch

He ain't no MW throwback, not even in his country cause Monzon was a hell of a fighter. Martinez put together athleticism, excellent soccer player legs, stamina and fast hands together with an experienced, cool, mature mind to create a very good MW. Most would have failed after roberries like against Cintron and PW but he kept on pressing the pedal and blessings showered over him at last.

The man is 37 years old, and lost 1 round while fighting a HUGE fighter 3 weight class out of his own.
