"WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Wilfredo Gomez stopping WBC Bantamweight Champion Lupe Pintor. I still say there will never be another fight like that war." He went on to add, "Gomez-Pintor was 14 rounds of Gatti-Ward one. The kind of brutal fight that tests mens souls. The kind of fight that you never quite get over, just a brutal battle from which winner and loser is never quite the same. Two reigning world champions killing each other in a phone booth. 14 rounds of Juanma - Mtagwa round eleven."

What's the greatest fight you've ever seen?

I'm surprised he got all that out without mentioning "ring generalship".

JohnThomas kindly sent me Gomez-Pintor a few years back. Lederman isn't lying, it was an aching battle.

I watched it immediately after I read his comments. Brutal to watch.

Has to be one of my favourites. But for some reason I just really prefer Sanchez-Nelson to any other fight, ever.

I prefer Sanchez-Nelson too. They are both great fights, but Sanchez-Nelson had this strange contrast of styles, mentalities, and periods of ascendancy. It was a fight like no other.

Why does Lederman always say "effective aggressiveness" and not "effective aggression"?

The first time you see Pintor-Gomez is one fo the greatest moments in your life. It doesn't quite live up to how I remmbered it when I went back to re-watch it, probably because I knew all the twists and turns. But still an mazing fight.

The best fight I have ever seen is Alexis Arguello vs Aaron Pryor I

Arguello-Pryor I is probably the fight that I would show to someone who had never seen boxing in order to express the epic nature of boxing.

    Maske-Williams.

Artistry in motion. Brutality as poetry.
