Haven't hit it for almost three months since yesterday... it's good for when you start or for conditioning, but i think for instance pad work is much more useful in terms of actual boxing skill. I noticed that after those three months of replacing it by pad work, sparring, etc, i threw my punches more while on my toes. Most of the heavy sitting-down-on punches are very hard to land while sparring, especially against bigger movers. It gives you an illusion about getting in range, timing and getting out of range/keeping your guard up. It's still a good exercise if you want to be able to keep a high work rate, work on your power or technique, but i've lost interest in it a bit.
what a bull:-( most proven fighters or a pro use heavy bag during their training. HEavybag and pads serve a diff purpose.
Exactly im not going to get on here and saw the heavy bag is more important then running or padwork or sparring but its very important IMO. Do it for 4-6 rounds atleast apart of your routine its great for conditioning among other things.
Yeah, man you don't want to be moving all the time when you're throwing punches anyway. When it comes to the one two or jabs, it's understandable, but when you throw combinations, you want to sit on your punches, and the best way to do that is on the heavybag. Besides, not everyone here has a trainer that can dedicate that kind of time to their people that they can just bang on pads everyday.
