Truth. Though I thought Gray was pushing it with Pascal. I was all about him stating that Hopkins won though, that was class. But come on, you're never going to get a fighter who won/drew to say he thought he lost...there's just something wrong about that lol
Great post. I agree...tonight was suppose to be his night, and he did everything he needed to do despite getting KD twice to win that fight. Boxing fans missed out too. He schooled Pascal. Even if there was a rematch it doesn't erase this night plus he ain't getting any younger.
Thanks for the balanced poster comment, I appreciate that, because I do try to not be a complete ****** for the most part. I think the 3rd should have been 10-9 round as I thought Hopkins clearly won it other than the KD. I felt that the first round KD was clearly in the back of the head, but even assuming you don't agree with that, the KD that Hopkins had later in the fight that was ruled a slip when there is no question Pascal was hit with a hook first and then with a short right to the head and went down. Now don't get me wrong, in typical circumstances I wouldn't have a problem with the ruling, but the precendent for how the fight was going to be officiated had already been set, and per that precedent it should have been a KD. Sorry, that **** really doesn't matter, because it's "what if's" and I hate that **** typically. Based on what happened and how the fight went, I felt Hopkins did win the last 8 rounds and won the fight going away. I will have to rewatch the fight again, to literally score it out, but bottom line he beat the ****ing dog **** out of Pascal and EARNED the win.
It's not a major robbery. However, the first knockdown shouldn't of been called, it wasn't a knockdown. The second was a flash knockdown, right of the end of a round that was prior to that a Hopkins round, clear. That's a 6pt swing right there. I mean, Hopkins could easily of won this fight, 118-110 but for those KD's. Nobody would of complained if the knock downs never happened, and those scores were called. I think that is what makes it seem more of a robbery than it really it. Hopkins won the fight, and won the fight clearly. However, boxing isn't always about that, you need to score points and win rounds. Pascal scored the points, and although IMO is a very, very lucky man to be walking out the ring still champion, well... that's how boxing is sometimes.
C'mon...I thought you were arguing Hopkins sweeping the last 3/4 of the fight. But this above, makes your whole rant ridiculous.
Good Post, extremely sensible. Hopkins still got ****ing robbed and I want to hear it from the mouths of the "Kotelnik fans"...lol, nah actually I feel better just getting that initial junt off my chest.
Hopkins did sweep the last 8 rounds (the 8th I think...could have been Pascal) but I thought Hopkins won the 4th so either way he won 8 rounds at least, and to be real the part about the "Knock Down" is controversial I feel ya', but that's just a "what if opinion", but the 10-9 3rd round I stand by as Hopkins clearly won the round prior to the flash KD.
Who cares if you scored the third 10-9? Most judges will score it 10-8. It is not controversial. It is a legitimate 10-8 score. So now you have the fight within a couple of points. What about the 8th? I scored it for Pascal. Have to watch it again...It was close.
