Indeed he was supremely conditioned physically like a machine.

Unfortunately he was mentally a crazy insecure wreck.

Was it just his shocking defeat at the hands on Holy in '96 which did this?

Or was it perhaps "Roid Rage" too? :think

Not so sure he could be either K-Brother, they are just too big and too smart.

But consider, Prime Tyson had raging gonorrhea burning his cawk against WBC Champ Berbick, & it only made him more devastating! :yep

Probably the realization and humiliation of knowing Holyfield was going to finish him and his legacy. Tyson's no idiot but rather one of the most astute students of boxing history amongst fighters. He knew what that fight meant.

The vast, vast majority of the division? Yes, but Tyson would almost always be at the top of the division if he's "prime." But I think the Klitschko brothers give him hell with their respective skills and HUGE size advantages, especially Vitali.

Maybe Mike thought that too, but he did more damage to his legacy by biting Holy, than getting stopped again could ever do.

Besides, if he'd been mentally sound in the rematch, considering his phenomenal physical condition i believe he'd have made it the distance. In their first fight, Tyson took 3 of the first 5 rounds*, before getting gassed in round 6. In the supremely conditioned shape he was in for the rematch, i strongly believe Mike had 12 rounds of back & forth action in his gas tank, like he did against Razor Ruddock (II) in '91. It's just a shame he didn't have that "kill or die trying" attitude anymore, for instance trading hellacious powerpunch lowblows throughout his war with Ruddock, despite not even wearing a foul protector & continuing the brutal slugfest while suffering broken ribs from banging bodyshots... that warrior wasn't the same man who bitched about headbutts & looked like he was nearly going to cry when Holy lowblowed him in the 6th round of their first meeting.

*My Holy-Tyson I scorecard & RBR for reference:

    Continuing:

Absolutely no doubt in my mind Tyson came into the second Holyfield fight with every intention of winning. You dont put in work for months with a trainer like Giachetti and come in at the level of conditioning he did without every intention of seizing glory.

The cut only pissed him off. He came out white hot in the 3rd and had it in the bag before he inexplicably missed with a murderous left hook and chomped. I dont think it was until Mills Lane deducted two points that he completely caved. In his mind, he'd already blown the first two rounds and was cut. Now he just surrendered another in which he worked exhaustively to win decisively and this guy is shoving and pushing him all over the ring. You can see the demoralization in his body language after the deduction.
