Not gonna lie, I'd like to see this fight. David was starting to cut the ring vs Gates, and we were left with nothing. Fight ended. We NEED to see David cut the ring against someone with a decent reach and above average footwork. Lee qualifies.

Because Russ will prepare David to perfection for this kind of test, Lemieux TKO 5.

No, that's me. I make bold predictions sometimes - it makes things more fun and interesting, and if you hit the nail on the head, it's weeks, months or maybe years of entertainment - but overall, my record is pretty good. I've been watching boxing for 35 years, so I know something about the sport.

Young David does not move his head and upper body enough for my liking. At 160 he is going to find himself in with taller guys routinely. With his build and limited reach it is very important for him to learn to keep that head moving and throw in some upper body movement so he can stay in position to return fire without getting hit to much.

David also seems to lay over to the right side all the time. He pumps the jab, and lays over to the right. It's very predictable.

Considering the above, right now, a tall southpaw with a good jab and some power would probably be a freaking nightmare for Lemieux.

Lemieux will take Lee out within 6 rounds if he comes to fight or 8 if he does a marathon Dirrell style. Andy is basically a solid B level fighter which is similar to an european level champion type fighter. Not bad but not great either.

Right now - maybe not a freaking nightmare, but certainly a great test for his chin. Agreed that he'd get hit coming in against a guy like Lee, he doesn't protect his head enough while closing in range. Lemieux is vulnerable when he throws power left hooks - I'd like to see him try to adjust his approach to a tall south paw.

Lemieux has to get past Rubio before we speak seriously about anything else, and that is by no means a given. I suspect he will get past Rubio, because Rubio does not have a great chin, and he can be intimidated. Going in with a guy as seasoned as Rubio is still a hell of a test for a 21 year old kid.

Where as Gates totally chickened out Friday night, Ayala got intimidated too late if you will. Gates never wanted to trade with David, but Ayala did initially. Problem with Rubio is he won't be able to stop David from getting inside. He might have a far superior baggage than Ayala and be more skilled, but I don't see him being able or even want to ride the bike for 12 rounds. What Ayala tried to do with a 10" reach advantage starting halfway through the 1st round vs Lemieux (dumbass was hurt and wanted to run & jab), Rubio will try to do continuously with a ~6" advantage and a Lemieux who will put emphasis on cutting the ring...? Hey, the guy went 9 rounds in a title fight vs Pavlik and beat Ornelas/Miller, but I don't see him making it past the 4th round.

this is a terrific match up idea. I think Lee has a good chance cause I think Lemieux telegraphs a little

Do you think Lee's conditioning is good enough to deny the inside to Lemieux for 12 rounds?

Lemiux needs to be tested before we can guage how good he is. Lee has a loss on his record so people naturally think he is still at the level of opponent who beat him. I cna understand that. In any case I'm starting to get excited about 160 again.
Apart from these 2, throw the 4 belt hodlers (Sergio,Sturm,Pirog & Sylvester) along with other potential challengers (N'kam, golovkin, Guererro, Chavez Jr, Macklin, Barker, Zbik, Geale & Mundine) and you could literally have a super 12 or super 14 tournament.

Back when Pavlik, Abraham, Zuniga, and Miranda fought the level of competition David Lemiuex has been in with nobody lasted more than a few rounds with those guys. when Zuniga and Miranda tried to step up they started losing. Pavlik's KO ratio dropped, and Abraham's went WAY down. Boxing is loaded with examples like this. David's power is actually quite untested. When he starts routinely dropping guys who had never been stopped, then we'll know it's for real.
