Up until now Mikey has generally had it his way, but we're about to find out how much heart and desire he truly has.
I think that Spence is gonna simply outbox Mikey and beat him decisively. What's being underestimated here is Spence's boxing skills.
Garcia is gonna get badly hurt against Spence. He might be more skilled, but Spence is just too big and strong for him.
I was thinking yesterday after I posted about DLH being better than any active welter, that if Crawford keeps moving up and being successful, I'd be inclined to change that opinion. Crawford is very, very good, but he needs to beat another elite welter before I say he's better than DLH.
About 80 percent of this board is picking Spence to win easily, And about 80 percent of those people are also saying violently. The name of thread is "will Spence RUIN Mikey's career? Yea, he's being underestimated.
no, and yes. yes, spences boxing skills get universally underated. nobody he has fought could have outboxed him, should he had needed to change tactics because he was losing. mikey is going to force him to change tactics somewhere in the middle rds. thats when everyone will see how good spence can actually box. ultimately, i think mikeys superior preparation, which includes, experience, corner, intelligence, confidence, and heart, are getting him a close points win. thats how i see it at the moment, but it could change before fight night.
I have been studying Spence match videos for a while now to look for what I want to know. To see what weakness that Mikey possibly will try to exploit. And from what I have found, I think it'll be tremendously difficult fight for Mikey. Mikey's greatest asset and strength is his ability to launch a precisely timed and deadly-powerful counter. I believe he has one of the most powerful jab and straight in lower class division. However, Spence is not someone who is easily to counter. First, huge difference of size and height, plus Mikey is not really the fastest though have good timing. Secondly, Spence is a great counter-puncher himself and an underrated one. Why do you think he has such a high KO percentage. Many times his counters hurt his opponent and drastically turn the tide of the fight to his favor. And third, Spence has great ability to work in outside. He has subtle footwork and great athleticism. That's a quite of bad match-up for Mikey. And plus, he is a much smarter opponent than Mikey's previous opponents like Easter Jr. or Lipinets. On side note, I found Spence to be fascinating talent. In my honest opinion, there's a possibility he'll be future worthy adversary of Canelo.
Perfectly honest personal assessment. I give it a like, even though I disagree. I think Mikey is the most fundamentally complete boxer in the game today. Spence is really good, but a tad bit stationary. He may be faster than Mikey, but speed ain't everything. I think of Vernon Forrest vs. Shane Mosley, for example. A craftier boxer can negate pure speed. Mikey certainly is biting off a huge chunk by taking on someone so much naturally bigger. But I think if he can avoid the big shot, he wins b/c I believe him to be the superior technician. I'm not one to hate a guy b/c people disagree with me about one fight. If you're right, I look forward to, and will root for, Spence becoming an elite P4P guy.
