Let's do a lifetime ban bet - Fury wins by round 1 KO and I leave for good, otherwise you leave for good. Are you willing to back up your post?
I have the same feeling, the fight will get canceled, Fury will allegedly get to drugs again to have a good reason to cancel the fight without viewing it as a duck. If the fight happens, there is a high probability that fury will get disqualified for extended rules violation. Usyk is the better fighter and will clown fury in the first 8 rounds before fury starts to cheat. With a disqualification he stills saves his face (in his mind) instead of get utterly schooled 12 -0 against the small man
Y'know, I don't see the fight necessarily playing out this way (right now I think it'll be a competitive 4-5 rounds and Usyk will take over for the last half), but this got me to thinking. I feel like this is gonna be the last year either guy will be an active boxer, if not the last fight of their careers altogether. How ****ed up would it be if one of the last things Fury does in his boxing career is capitalize on the opportunity to honor his namesake in a way nobody expected: by taking a huge chunk out of Usyk's ear to avoid a KO/wide decision loss. What an end to the era that would be. First undisputed heavyweight championship match in a quarter of a century and it ends via homage based DQ
I don't see it happening. There would be more promotion if it was. Also, a fight this big in Saudi would have a great undercard, but we are now down to 5 weeks. Which isn't long for fighters to prepare. Perhaps the undercard already know who they are fighting though, but if they do they are keeping very quiet about it. And they would need to be going to Saudi in the next few weeks to finish their training and do the final promotions.
Since Wilder 2, Fury has obviously been purely about the money. He said it himself in a rare moment of honesty and left no room for doubt. He's made it clear he doesn't want any fighters on their way up (e.g. Hrgovic), he only wants the circus fights (Ngannou), the knock-over jobs (Chisora) or something that is mega, mega money. My opinion is he's been close to shot since the weight gain and drug abuse, and certainly is as of today. So the main question is if he's getting enough money to take on Usyk (at which point the charade is brought to an end), or if there are any other very easy money fights out there he can get away with first. They need to be very easy after the Ngannou scare, and the Usyk rematch clause is a sweetener, so I'm going for 70% chance of it happening. The other fear is if he just decides to take time off and let more Netflix money roll in as reigning heavyweight champ while he waits for a suitable youtuber to challenge. The WBC are well on side so this is definitely possible.
Hard to disagree with much of this at all. Arguably the entire return has been only about the money full stop, including the first two Wilder fights (with the rematch #3 being contractually unavoidable and as it was lowish risk by that point probably made more sense to fight than duck). I think he knew all along that Wilder was a soft touch - that's why he made a beeline for Wilder instead of Joshua whilst improving his condition (much like Ortiz, intending to beat the clearly lesser fighter to leverage a better cut from the cashcow)... Maybe intending to fight Joshua for more money afterwards, before thinking better of it? (Because as much as Usyk could dominate him, he won't likely damage Fury badly - where Joshua conceivably could). As you say, WBC doesn't care a jot if it's heavyweight belt gets held hostage and made a mockery of - it's entirely possible that he'd duck this and try to milk a bit more money another way...
Heck, I'll offer you terms on that... If Fury knocks out Usyk with the first punch of the first round, I'll leave. If Fury doesn't knock Usyk out with the first punch of the first round... You change your screen name to "mini-IQ". I'm not greedy, no need for you to leave when you're inevitably wrong
