I blame LEE BEARD for feeding Hatton with wrong and stuuuuuuuupid ideas about Pacquiao since the onset of Hatton's training camp. I remember that article in a UK paper with his dumb comments and Ricky has been following what he said almost like a script in most of his interviews leading into the fight. I tried to explain to the Hattonuts in his official website how wrong it would be for Ricky to have that kind of mindset going into a fight against the caliber of fighter like Pac, but their convinient reply was always "it's obvious you don't know anything about boxing..." LOL. Those dumb Brits (in that site) didn't have a friggin clue. This content is protected We've all heard about the friction between Beard and Floyd. They hired Floyd to call the shots but I suspect that aside from the old man's tardiness, they didn't wholeheartedly agree with his methods and tactics (didn't see any of it in the fight). Since the beginning, Beard thought that Hatton would simply overpower Pac because Hatton was "bigger,""stronger," even "quick" enough to handle the southpaw's speed. They kept on harping how Pac was KO'ed early in his career, fought a C class fighter in Diaz and a walking punching bag Oscar so that made him virtually untested above 130, etc...lol. Floyd would've put more emphasis on defense but Ricky went in there like he was up against some midget weakling even if that midget was the consensus best fighter p4p. Why? Because he was undefeated at 140...lol. They either took Manny too lightly or had a bloated estimation of Ricky's strength and size. To play it smart they should've stuck with Mayweather's gameplan, whether it would've worked or not, because it's quite obvious that the "old Ricky Hatton" style wouldn't cut it at this level. I just read his post fight comments and it only confirms my first impression of him: He's a **** trainer. Good luck to Ricky.
My feeling is that basically Hatton did not make an effort to maintain a disciplined defence for this reason I am about to explain and it I also believe he had this thought in his head for the Mayweather fight. Pac and Mayweather could not possible stop me because I have a great chin and I took Tzyu bombs so I should be able to walk thru a few shots to land my punches. I have to admit that I also dismissed Pacs one punch KO power at 140 but he had alright.
Ricky shouldve listened to Floyd from day 1. There's a reason they call FM sr the greatest of all time
Maybe HATTON could just not implement Floyed's training in the fight due to his lack of mental discipline during fight night.
Would be interested to know if he executed as Floyd wanted during sparring, and just choked/reverted on fight night.
Agreed. Like I said he had the wrong mindset going into the fight. It would be hard to stick to Floyd's instructions with those kinds of WRONG ideas tattooed into his brain before the fight.
