I watch whatever boxing is on tv and get to shows when I can. as a fan you can do no more than this. Blame the promoters and boxing councils and tv execs

I'm not giving Mayweather any excuses, a boxer should fight the best, I know that all sportsmen want to the best in their sport, it's in their competitive nature, it's just that most aren't good enough. In boxing though, I do see a high trend in that many boxing fans supporting a boxer until he loses and then it's straight onto another boxer whilst regarding the other boxer a bum, just because he lost. I saw it with many boxers. It's a shame & I think that kind of mentality must play a huge part where fighters just think that a loss is the end of the world where no one will give them a second chance ( money) if they lose.

Contenders had to fight more often back then due to the economic circumstances. Actually, pretty much everyone besides HW champs fought more often.

There weren't all these cable networks paying big dollars for lousy fights, and ticket sales from the box office sold much more. People hardly pay for smaller boxing events like they did back then, as it's a much smaller sport in the states.

A good loss is worth lot more than a bad win. For example Provodnikov losing to Bradley, Herrera losing to Garcia, Kamegai losing to Guerrero, Takayama losing to Rodriguez Jr.

It absolutely falls on the fans, and this forum is a great example. Go look how many people support fights like mayweather vs cotto 2, garcia vs peterson, ect... they are the reason promoters get away with what they do.
