Even if I don’t like an athlete or a fighter, I always give credit where credit’s due. Alvarez has impressed me a lot more probably the last few years than prior to before he fought Mayweather. I knew his hype train would derailed when he took that fight. The fact is fighting the Krusher at 175 without a rehydration clause or catchweight says a lot about how he wants to be perceived. if Alverez wins, I will be the first one to applaud him because I think this is a very tough fight for him.
I think you will be in for a surprise. Canelo will be super defensive for the first five rounds at least. He knows he only has to finish on his feet to win. Kov will gas and Canelo will beat his body senseless and end the fight. Something seems fishy with this one. Prime Kov pounds Canelo into the canvas but this version might be last shelf life.
The fight is just above plus money to not go the distance and to be honest, if Kovalev wants to win he’s going to have to stop him and I think you’re right, once the fight gets into the later stages Canelo can just bust him up in the second half of the fight and probably score a stoppage.
For sure mate and I’d like to think he’s sick of his reputation as the protected cash cow.If the public could believe in his fights as he believes in himself it would go a long way to restore all that’s bad in boxing. Certainly his fight with Jacobs and the scores were faultless.
If he beats Kovalev convincingly, I would stick at 175. Use careful matchmaking but still pick names where people will credit each win.
Canelo hasn’t bust anyone up late since he beat Smith imo. Some might say Golovkin but in all honesty folk just get over excited when Golovkin gets hit. Unless Canelo suddenly has more stamina at the weight I can’t see him having the energy to bust Kovalev up late on.Hes so good though that he often wins the first three rounds and against Jacobs I felt like he was gonna knock him out early on but his gas tank reared it’s head again.
Fielding obviously isn’t Kovalev but they way Clenelo dissected him in 3 was pretty impressive. Lots of body work.
Well, that kind of happens, when you literally choose to stand in front of Canelo and let him tee off on your body for three rounds. It wasn't like Rocky made it hard for him.
Why would he get tired? He didn't get tired against two massive Light Heavyweights the size of Cruiserweights putting him under intense pressure throughout, Canelo if he's still around by the late rounds, will eventually tire of walking into jab after jab and in all lieklihood be on the backfoot anyway. An interesting stat to consider as far as the stamina and output question goes. Canelo in the 12th against Jacobs and Golovkin in the 2nd match threw 56 & 64 punches. Kovalev in the 12th and 10th against Alvarez II & Yarde, he threw 78 & 92 punches. (56 in half of the 11th against Yarde)
Canelo doesn´t have great head movement? Yeah, that’s not true at all. Canelo has fantastic upper body and head movement.
The skill level of them two huge light heavweights though compared to Canelo is virtually none existent, this is what makes it fascinating, can his skills do any damage to the bigger man. Kov hasn't been the most professional over the years, I think McGirt is ringing out the last bit of goodness out of him, so I expect his hand raised, but skills wise I think Canelo could be a problem, its all down to coping with Kov's jab imo, if he can avoid that and close the distance Kov has a problem
Yeahhhh except he still has the 2 best fights anyone has put up against Golovkin, with the majority of industry men and respected people I know having him at least 1-1, next most 1-0-1 before 0-2 being the least pushed narrative (beyond fanboys, of course, but even considering them!).
