Pavlik has not proven himself besides his 2 victories over Taylor. Sure those are big wins but other than that he hasn't beaten anyone else thats been considered a top contender...
Compared to Calzaghe, he has proven to continue to beat top fighters including Hopkins in the USA.

    Calzaghe UD over Pavlik

I know...I'm a realist and I see it a 116-112 UD for Joe. Still, there is more than a small chance Pavlik's power breaks Calzaghe early. He's a harder hitter than Kessler and Joe seemed to be rolling his eyes about how much of a threat Pavlik is to him (a underestimation that has ALWAYS served Pavlik to a KO win against supposedly stronger opposition). Still, I can't face the reality Pavlik's got a lot stacked against him with Calzaghe.

I must admit I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of people takin Pav.

There are a few of us that would take Pavlik over Kong and Godzilla at the same time:D , but the Pavlik nation seems to be spreading farther and wider than ever before.:yep

Nothing against Pavlik, but I think it may be a UD for Calzaghe.

For Joe, it has to happen soon.

Present Joe will UD pavlik, might stop him.

A year from now, with Joe already declining and Pavlik continuing to improve, interesting fight.

Much past that, Pavlik becomes the favourite.

Miranada was the number one contender in the division when he was KO's by Pavlik and only lost one other time to an undefeated champion in Abraham. Pavlik beat the number one contender in the division and the undisputed, undefeated, champion and best middleweight in the world in Jermain Talyo. Twice. I like Calzaghe, but lets not forget that we are giving him all this praise for a wine over Hopkins, who couldn't even beat Taylor in two tries. Pavlik dominated taylor in both fights. What more can Pavlik prove short of knocking out Joe to prove he is the real deal.

Let's face it. This is THE fight for both guys. Either way, both guys come out winners for not ducking it if it happens. Cal can ride off into the sunset to a very nice retirement or Pavlik becomes THE MAN at 3 weights. Personally, I don't consider the Ding-a-Ring belt to be worth much at the moment. I'm sorry. Bhop was NOT the man at LH.

Yeah. But it reminds me of an MMA champ that is primarily a 'ground' or Jujitsu guy. Almost always ends up losing to someone that just pounds the crap out of him to where he can't use his skill set. THIS is what people are overlooking in Kelly. His ability to do damage is cumulative. No one with a real reach advantage. So, if they get off, HE gets off. So far, that has been enough. Someone posted earlier that he starts slow. Not so. He is building damage points early. Slow and METHODIC not PLODDING.

I can't believe people are actually picking Pavlik to last 12 with Calzaghe, considering styles and how Taylor had Pavlik reeling in their first bout. Calzaghe hits harder than Taylor and presents a much worse style for him, coming forward against Calzaghe is asking to be shelled and with Pavlik's defence.

Hell, Kessler took 4 rounds off him max, who's in another league to Pavlik, yet Pavlik's going to give Joe a good fight and take it to a 116-112 loss?:patsch

You guys realise that Kessler is in another league correct?

He beat the real MW Champ TWICE! WTF is wrong with that?:huh And Miranda, Zertuche, and Mckart are names you idnt mention.
He'll take Lockett just to stay active and fight Calzaghe.
Aint **** to criticize:nono In fact people should APPLAUD the will to face the best and Pavlik has that.

I have all respect for Calzaghe as well. This fight is what Boxing is all about and the winner willl essentially be the MW, SMW, and LHW Champion. Thats one hell of a feat:yep

I admit JC is the favorite but styles make fights and Pavlik is young and full of desire and determination. I'm loyaly to Pavlik as a fan and if he indeed lands as Hopkins did? Joe may well suffer his first defeat. 33 fights and 29 KO's clearly indicates that Pavlik does have power. Sure it may not b the first, second, third, etc, punch landed that takes you out. But rest assured, those shots take a toll, and the next thing you know? Your slumped in a corner, eyes glazed, wondering WTF happened:good

I'm gonna say Pavlik TKO 10. Joe may use speed and flurries but as the rounds wear on? Pavlik's power will shine through.:D Thats a BIASED opinion of course:yep

It could well be JC UD but dont be too quick to count the chickens til they hatch:hat
