Joe by UD & that's not hating on Pavlik at all. Speed is the difference. Obviously Kelly's power & jab are his best chance.

Both camps will live with the films before this fight happens. Ole Joe ain't bringing NOTHING new to the fight that Team Pavlik will not have seen in films. I don't care how many rabbit snares you set out, you aint' gonna catch a freight train. People like to call Pavlik "slow" and "plodding". How about measured and methodic? He is measuring what the other guys shots are doing as he comes in and does HIS thing. If those shots are damaging him he is going to keep coming forward and doing HIS damage. Calzaghe will be aiming to win the boxing match, Pavlik will be aiming to win the fight. :deal

    kelly pavlik 33-0-0 29KO
    joe calzaghe 45-0-0 32KO

lets compare them both after 33 fights
kelly pavlik 33-0-0 29KO (defended belt 1 time)
joe calzaghe 33-0-0 27KO (defended belt 10 times)

i put my money on JC for no other reason that i think he is much better than pavlik. why have i posted the things above i dont know but i have

None of the Calzaghe proponents have responded to the fact that B. Hop could not beat Taylor in two tries. Pavlik went and dominated Taylor twice and Calzaghe went and edged out a very, very close victory of over Hopkins. Yet Clazaghe has now been placed the highest pedestal for beating Hopkins and you still say Pavlik isn't on his level. It doesn't make sense. I think we forget Pavlik is 26, Joe Calzaghe at that age wasn't even being argued about on boxing forums (such as this fine establishment) for another 5 years.

(I still love Joe C, but I like Pavlik more)

pavlik by late ko or ud.anytime you don't have a slick counterpuncher people like to say one dimensional but that is very untrue.pavlik has great timing and a decent defense. his offense he mainly sticks to a one two with afew uppercuts for measure with the hook as a keep you in line shot, but when you are so good at these things you tend to stick with what you know his determination is one of the best out there . not much you can do to deter the man.pavlik has a few very big wins and a reason he doesn't have more at this point was because until he dominated miranda most experts called him ordinary.just like the people who continue to do so

We look at the tough time Hopkins had with Taylor twice. Compared to the complete ass beating he received at the hands of Pavlik. That was a younger fresher Hopkins. Measure that aginst the subpar performance Calzaghe had against Bhop and it doesnt take a Rocket scientist to make the assumption that Joe C really isnt ****. This is Pro Boxing not the amatuers and Kelly will beat Calzaghe sensless if they ever fight at 168. The differernce here is the height, strength, youth, and KO power all belong to Kelly with the jab and starignt right Kelly will beat Joes ass unmercifly I cant wait.

if pav takes lockett which he should.then he has to go straight for calz next or it wont happen.
i dont think pav is experienced enough for calz though.
the only way pav can win is if calz show boats holding his hands down because he is miles in front on the score cards and pav catches him on the chin.

different boxers handle different styles of boxing differently.hopkins was not good for joe.if you havent worked out that pav is joes type of fight then you are going to have a nasty surprise when pav loses by a massive margin on points to joe.

Listen, truly I believe this is Joe C first real test ever, Bhop has difficulty in his old age with fast guys with a high workrate thats why Jermain was so succesful. I only have a concern about weight as at 168 Kelly is moving up, but he is taller and stronger so that offsets it a bit for me. I dont want it at 175. I think its a very good chance Kelly beats him badly. But not as sure as Dawson beating him of which Im certain.

The thing I like most about this thread is that the original poster started a "Let's Hate On Pavlik" thread, and got OWNED!!!

Yep. In truth, I think objective observers think this will be one TOUGH fight for both guys. Can you outclass a freight train? Can a freight train run over what isn't on the tracks? The rules put them together though.

This was the true spoiler of the Cal/Bhop fight. Bhop didn't come to fight. He came to be 'cagy'. This is why MMA will be on broadcast TV in the states tonight and boxing won't. Bhop perverted the rules of boxing and should have had points deducted for his excessive clinching. It was a caluclated stratagy to keep a fight from breaking out. WHO wants to see that?
