I don't care about the hate he's getting. I don't know Broner and wouldnt want to know him based on his antics. It still doesnt take away from my point. ps. And that Ponce De Leon fight could have gone either way. #whocares
Want to know the difference between Brandon Rios and Adrien Broner? Rios didn't publicly announce himself to be eating a ****ing twix ice cream bar during training camp.
The fight was at 130 for the WBO title. He didn't make weight, but he can't weigh more than 140 the morning of the fight. Clear?
Let's get this straight...ppl are conflicting each other here. Was this a super feather or lightweight fight? And he came in at what?
This was a fight for the sfw/jlw wbo title, so the weight limit was 130. By failing that(weighing in at 133.5) on the date of the weigh in, Broner lost the title. If the fight were to go ahead, only Escobedo was eligible to win the belt. Since Broner failed the official weigh in, in order to try to have the match, they negotiated that neither fighter could weigh in over 140 at 9am Saturday morning. But Broner had rehydrated to over that 140 lb limit that had been negotiated. Since he weighed in at 143 sat. morning, Escobedo called off the bout. Very similar to the Rios-Murray situation a while back. Although I think Rios made the rehydration limit, and the fight went ahead. You might get a better explanation of the Escobedo camp rationale for calling off the fight over at the Scene.
