Boxed, you are correct. Walter Dipley shot and killed Stanley Ketchel ,on a ranch in Missouri 1910. Dipley was sent to prison, and was paroled in 1933.
There were rumors that Ketchel's friends still living, would seek revenge and kill Dipley, but he lived for another 23 years, dying in 1946.

Yea, you asked that one before, just using different words, so I waited to see if anyone would come up with it.

    I murdered a ring legend,pardoned years ago?
After a life sentence for a murder of a famous fighter I was pardoned after serving 23 years...Who was I ?
Walter Dipley, #12241, became a cobbler in prison. He spent some time in solitary confinement for inciting a riot and for possession of narcotics. He was paroled by Governor Guy Park in 1934 after serving 23 years, and died from kidney disease in 1956.

hh and you guys got it..Walter Dipley, infamous murderer of Stanley Ketchel.
In 1934 when Dipley was pardoned, there was fear that surviving friends of Ketchel
would avenge Stanley's murder, but it didn't happen. The murderer Dipley lived to 1956.
I suppose time softens all wounds !

    That's interesting what happened later.

But did Dipley die in 1946 or 1956?
