To be fair to WWM, he sounds like the kind of guy that would stick with his man through thick and thin. But he remains profoundly misguided when it comes to making a prediction on this one.

The cry will be that PW was over-rated and Pavlik beat up a Welterweight - though the people who will say that won't have predicted a Pavlik KO.

oh i don't think pw is winning this fight. but he's the second best mw around right now...he just made ____ winky (insert your own adjective) look terrible.

    he is a dangerous guy.

the old pav will walk through his punches, walk him down, walk over him when he's floored, and walk back to the locker room w/ an i told you so **** eatin grin on his face. but i can't say for sure the old pav will show up on the 5th. is he fully recovered from his injury? has the layoff affected him??

all i meant was in light of all the question marks surrounding both guys, its kind of foolish to write either off as not having a chance in hell of winning the fight. as sure as i am of the outcome should the old pav show up...i'm just as nervous about whether or not that's gonna happen.

edit to actually answer your questions...:D

    1. he's never faced a puncher like pav

    2. pav can and has knocked out guys at or above smw.

thing is as sure as i am that pwilly can't stand up to pav's power and his come forward style...until it actually happens it hasnt happened yet which is why i get nervous. i cant help it

In the last 4 years Paul has faced one opponent over 6 foot: Andy Kolle. The rest of his opposition was between 5' 7" and 5' 10".

Those are important facts, because those who try to make PW in to some kind of master boxer are wrong. Williams is a volume puncher who relies heavily on height and reach advantages to stay out of range and overwhelm his opponents with work rate.

Against Pavlik any hieght advantage is minimal, possibley non-existant. PW doesn't really "fight tall," but Pavlik usually does.

Paul's reach is deceptive. His actual arm length advantage is 1" and he normally doesn't use all of his reach. Anytime he tries to open up he will be right there in range, and all those angles he uses leave him wide open to shots that come right down the pipe. Throwing straight shots down the middle is Pavlik's bread and butter, and he sure as hell don't mind taking a few to land a few.

Like I keep saying, this ain't no chess match. It's a dog fight, and Pavlik is the bigger, stronger, tougher, meaner dog.

Paul has a good chin for a Welterweight. All of Pavlik's other opponents had good chins at Middleweight. And look what happened to them.

Apart from you, few have been calling this fight a mismatch; half of ESB thinks that Williams is going to do Pavlik over. When the tidal wave of "PW was blown up and over-rated" comes after fight night, only a select group of people will have grounds to downplay Pavlik's victory; the rest should admit they were wrong.

The same thing happened after Miranda and Taylor: most predicted Pavlik to lose, and then afterwards accused the opponents of being chumps.

:happy This is absolute crux of the issue. If there were one insight deciding this fight, this would be it.

Paul Williams is a skinny ass WW who freezes up when he gets hit hard. (Margo& matheesye sp??) Pavlik will knock him out unless he gets super fast and improves from falling over his own punches to a master boxer with his foot work.

All signs point to Kelly winning by Knock out.

Honestly just read one of Boo's post concerning why and how KP knocks P-Will out. It's all there. I have a feeling a lot of posters will be disappointed when they find out why P-Will has never been in with a puncher above 147.

PW is certainly not a MW (yet); but he's far from a blown up WW. I would be very surprised if he could effectively box at 147, having not done so for over a year now.

No insults intended, but there's also a certain element of hypocrisy in this considering your boy just cherry-picked a guy who looked fat at Lightweight and couldn't even stop him.
