I could NEVER rank MAB above JMM or Morales, cause he never beat PAC & the way he fought him...

But this I can say - Barrera and Morales did NOT use Memo Heredia / PEDS.
I respect them better.

To be fair, Morales used drugs against Danny.

 

Out of the 4 I rank PAC at the top. Hard for me to put the other 3 in any kind of order. 4 of the best fighters of the last 25 years. Just wish Morales vs Marquez coulda happened. Even if it would've happened at 140 when Morales came back sporting a beer gut and still took maidana into deep water.

 

I agree with OP.

Contrary to Morales and Marquez, Barrera had a diva side to his character, also he was kind of a bully in the ring. When the going got tough (Junior Jones, twice) he wanted out and had his spirit broken.

He also cheap shoted low Marquez in their fight (and Pac in their second encounter), and also Morales during the press conference.

When he won, a champion, when he lost, a nasty brat.

 

What about the 2nd fight? I thought that was Morales best fight

 

Barrera had out-of-the-ring problems before he first fought Pac in 2003.

1.) Barrera was forced to leave high-altitude training premature a few times to get tested for metal plate in his head.
His former manager messed with his training by going public that MAB needs medical clearance, and that ruined MAB's stamina, because a fighter is supposed to come down only ONCE from high altitude training and a fighter has to come down at the right time, not days earlier and not days late or else the oxygen supply in the body gets ruined and the stamina gets ruined. But his former manager manipulated MAB's stamina to retaliate against MAB cause MAB had left Forum Boxing Promotions and left his former manager, and went with Golden Boy. So Freddie Roach joined in the manipulations by stating that they want more further tests to get clearance and those back and forth trips from high altitude to sea level ruined the oxygen supply in MAB.
MAB also had to relocate training camps due to wildfires and that also played a role in high altitude adjustments issues that negatively affected MAB's stamina

2.) Barrera was going through a divorce with his ex-wife and that ruined his state of mind too.

Barrera was beatable that night. Anyone in the top 15 rankings in that division could've beaten MAB that night.

Even Jim Lampley mentioned during the MAB-Morales 3rd fight, that MAB had issues prior to him fighting Pac, and Oscar also stated in the MAB-Morales III post fight interview that MAB had preparation problems prior to fighting Pac.

All 3 are close but JMM and Morales should be ranked higher despite Barrera beating Morales twice and having a close one with Marquez.

 

Barrera definitely rates higher than Marquez.

 

What MAB should of done is failed a drugs test and then paid off the judges to give him a controversial win. Then El Chicano would be all over his nuts.
