160 is not the "best" division, but the problem here is I could write up something equally as plausible and accurate about pretty much any division as you did about 160.

Now that Froch is gone, at 168 there is only Ward. Literally only Ward, Dirrells are Macklin and Geale level at best in terms of skill and accomplishments - I call DeGale DeGeale for a reason, he will have his moments but hes not a threat to anyone whos actually top shelf eevn though he is a respectable boxer. If you drained him to 164 a good many MWs would KO him.

At 154 Lara is massively overrated, Cotto HAS to have major asterisks by every win*. One asterisk is one thing, Cotto hasn't won a fight over a B-level or better guy without one in many many years.

147 is decent, better than 160 but after Floyd you could still spend all day picking apart most of the top10 and pointing out glaring limitations

You can spend all day dumping on pretty much any division if you are of a mind.

 

Of course you can, but those divisons dont have guys like Jacobs, Eubank Jr, Heiland etc, all ranked extremely high in the top 10. They also don't have a Peter Quillin that was ranked right below Golovkin, or a Lee who lost to Chavez Jr, and Vera ranked that highly.

Vera used to be better, Lee lost a long time ago and Jr was both putting in more effort and outweighed him by an insane amount.

By the way you appear to judge things, the only fight of significance GGG could fight is Ward. While that is certainly the most historically significant single fight, its still just one fight.

I try not to view things through the ATG lens anyhow, because our view of the history is rose tinted - tons of junk, ok, decent, and good fights happened amongst the handful of historical bouts that stick in our minds. Its not fair to try and judge everything against those, else we will constantly be in a state of disappointment.

Lemieux is athletically prime, motivated, a genuine devastating puncher, and much improved over the fighter who lost to Rubio. He is a dangerous fight for anyone at 160. No, not ATG type stuff as far as anyone knows but that shouldn't be the metric.
