Ya live in a Norman Rockwell painting. Like being four-square for motherhood and the flag, but boxing 'n all professional sports will always be dog eat dog.

If this was anybody other than Rein saying this he would be lambasted and pilloried, run clean off the board.

...but watch, everyone will bite their tongues and keep the kid gloves on...sycophants...

as it should be, which is why it needs to be policed
starting a thread saying "**** it, I don't care. just let me be entertained" probably qualifies you for presidency of one of the federations

    congratulations

Do you believe it will ever be possible to stamp out drugs? The prohibition of booze was a huge success.

It will always be a search for a better mousetrap.

The Boxers that have been caught is nothing compared to who all is using. What makes it worse is when fighters are caught like Roy Jones and it is essentially swept under the rug like it is no big deal while others are punished for it.

The testing is a complete joke. There are several different ways to beat it.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to the problem either.

it probably wont be possible, but that isn't the point, is it?

I find it very ironic that you are an avid boxing fan but you are happy to wave the white flag so easily to something that damages the sports reputation

Understand how strongly you feel. Do you honestly believe there's a solution that a chemist won't find a way around?

But that is the point. If it can't be fixed, we have to come to terms with that.

but coming to terms with it should never mean give up and let them have their way

the silver lining is that, even though having multiple federations encourages PED's, more and more marquee fights are demanding an equitable test format before they agree to fight at all

sure, its going to screw up some fights, but boxing will continue to have more corruption and problems than other sports while multiple federations exist

allow PEDs across the board, and that could quite easily be the beginning of the end of a sport which isn't even mainstream

Hm, that's some conveniently timed defeatism. Might that be due to long-abounding rumors swirling around your avowed favorite active boxer, which nobody can prove or disprove...as you likewise suspect (or rather, want to believe in) but can't prove his recent KO loss to be attributable to PED use by his rival? :think

Admire your grit 'n purpose, but beyond that, I hear no solution. And surely as I write this some evil chemist will come up with a way around any testing.

thats not the point. all sports are just a way to measure how far our best human attributes can be pushed, both physical and mental. any form of cheating is counterproductive to the whole reason for competition. rewarding those who are true to the ideals and punishing those who dont measure up to them is the only way to keep it alive.

You know ESB is really going downhill when John Garfield is trolling the board.

Regardless, there should be no issue with a fighter wanting stricter testing.
