    This sums it up.

I do wonder if his drug experimentation had something to do with it as well.

I should mention (off on another tack) that I still don't believe a man can hold the WBC title for five years not having beaten anybody. I don't think any of us should forget that (bad decision or not) he floored twice (imo knocked out) and drew against a prime Fury.

I agree. It's why all these bum comments are hogwash.

If Wilder was as bad as people make him out to be, Fury would've had a field day with him in all three fights, but he didn't. Even in the second fight, where Fury seemed to have struggled much less than the other two fights, he said he had to overcome a lot to get the victory.

Can you explain how a beating may reduce the effectiveness of fast twitch fibres in the body please?

    Video title is completely misleading.

Zhang talks about not feeling it because he felt Wilder possibly didn’t unleash it properly. Not that he didn’t feel it because Wilder isnt powerful.

That said, Wilder hasn’t ever knocked out anyone with a solid chin

I can't believe Wilder fought Zhang (or Parker for that matter). I was so used to him fighting relative stiffs and I NEVER looked forward to his fights.. like he was a non-entity belt holder. I guess the Fury beatings took away his power to dictate who he fought.

I'm beginning to think a lot of people on this forum don't understand how aging works.

He used to have power. Now he doesn't. That doesn't mean he never had power. He was the hardest hitter in the division for at least 4 or 5 years.

Look at the Brezeale and Ortiz KOs. That's legitimate power.

    Like he's not thirty-eight.
Like he hasn't been through multiple horrific beatings.
Like he hasn't tried body and mind altering drugs recently.

I don't like Wilder but Jesus you are reaching.

Pretty hard to feel any power when the dude isn't throwing any punches, all Wilder did was circle around the ring.

I think it is coming out that Fury was a bit overrated, too. I mean, other than Wilder, his great accomplishment was beating Klitschko, who was two weeks shy of 40. Fighting Chisora 3 times...losing to Ngannou...down by Cunningham and Pajkick...PEDS problems...finally running from and losing to a guy he degraded as a "middleweight."

Don't get me wrong, I have always maintained that Fury has talent, and still do. But he's not going to be remembered as a great fighter, either, and that is significant. He did not maximize that talent.

That's the point. Wilder fought NOTHING but tomato cans for 35 fights and 10 years. He couldnt box worth a lick but his right hand bailed him out...so he refused to practice, develop, and/or get better per his old trainer, Mark Breland.

When windmilling Wilder finally fought someone remotely good his chin was ruined and he became gunshy. That's what happens to MOST FIGHTERS...in the amateurs. Wilder just never grew up and refused to train/develop.

This decline in Wilder was as predictable as the sunset and moonrise. And it wasnt AGE as Deontay looked just fine versus Helenius, but Parker and Zhang - 2 good but not great HWs - humiliated Deontay.

Why is this a matter of “Deontey lost his power. Fury fights did a number!” and not just simply a matter of Zhang is a big ass block headed monster with a granite chin that dealt with wilder’s power just fine???

Power is the last thing to leave a fighter.

I think Wilder could still win big fights. Joyce is a total static target with zero head movement. That's the fight to make next after a tune up.

Decent but not great, Ugonoh had him down as did Mansour, Joshua also stopped him. That and the KO happened in rd 1 before he was warmed up, there's a tendency to get hurt easier early in fights but then take shots later in the fight just fine like JMM getting dropped by Pac 3 times but then eating many more flush left hands and not going down in later rounds. It's as if you need a round or two for the CNS to kick in and be able to take punches.
