didnt realize that they were eye to eye. i thought kelly was 4 or 5 inches taller. makes me lean more towards taylor...
Big issue in this fight is that both fighters fight their best when using the jab. So close in height and reach, Pavlik having the advantage by an inch in reach and 1.5 in height has the advantage. Whoever has the dominant jab should win if it goes to the scorecards.
i always felt reach didnt matter in a jab pernell whitaker roberto duran chris byrd all have short reaches but a good if not amazing jab and inch is nothing people seem to think that a guy who is 5'8 vs a guy 5'10 is a big differnece to be honest 2 inches isa about _ _ betweeen those to lines and really put you fist to one line then the other...you wouldnt notice the difference
Goddamn it, this Forum is getting funny and funnier, if Pavlik was 4 or 5 inches taller than Taylor, Jermain would be something like 5'8'' or 5'7'' LOL... Taylor not only is 1'' shorter ( 2.5 cm shorter) but he has reach advantages, 27'' arm length to Kelly's 24 1/2'' but I can't believe bumdujour is gonna flip his prediction for that... Take it lightly, bumdujour cause I am still laughing, not at you bro!
Its the myth that is being generated around the hype... Everyone saying "Pavlik is a Biiiig physical middleweight". "Pavlik is a hard hard puncher".... Media and people repeating that so much, no one mentioning that Taylor aint a small middleweight himself, gives a false impression that Taylor is tini tiny. If you hear it enough, you start believing it. Thats why I said that Pavliks camp, specifically his trainer, has been trying to hype his fighter to the press to make it seem like Pavlik is King Kong. He keeps saying over and over again how big and strong Pavlik is. The same thing happened with Margarito "He is the most feared man in boxing".. Everyone saying it. Before you know it, the media got hold of the new hype phrase "Margarito- the most feared man in boxing...no one wants to fight him". I heard that over and over again, I thought Margo was a professional hit man or something. I saw him fight finally on showtime and I said this is it? This is the most feared man in boxing? You guys have to see the facts for yourself before you believe something.
How can you argue the fact that he is not a big and strong MW. He is 6'3" and has a 90% KO rate. His level of competition arguement is bull****. He destroyed his competition. Exactly what he was supposed to do.
My point is that the people get that he's a big strong middleweight. But why do they fail to mention that Taylor aint a midget himself at 6'1 while pavlik is only 1 inch taller at 6'2. When you see them side by side, its not a difference to where you say "this guy looks huge next to Taylor". However, they go off to make him sound like he is the texas chain saw massacre in the ring with statements by his trainer such as "ive seen guys **** in the ring after getting hit by Kelly" "we've carried guys out on a stretcher" "kelly is a big strong middle weight (repeated like 3000 times)" Argument can be made if he can provide the names of those who pissed in the ring and who were carried out in stretchers. Were these even ranked professional fighters he's referring to? or bums they found to spar in Ohio. It reminds me of when people thought Tarver was gonna be so much bigger than Hopkins. Then you see them side by side and that wasn't really the case. B-hop is 6'1 and Tarver 6'2. Some people have skinny long limbs with narrow frames and it makes them appear to be taller than what they really are.
Well then you didn't put too much thought into it friend. :deal 4-5 inches taller???? you had to have known that Taylor was at least 6'0" after seeing that he was eye-to-eye with Hops and taller than Wright. So did you really think Pavlik was 6'5"???? atsch
I think everybody agrees that JT is a big MW. Strong? But compared to everybody else in the division, they are king kong. A far as Jack Loew's comment, he's his trainer. It is any different than Manny saying JT is better than the handful of ATG's they mentioned. It's hype. To Jack Loew maybe KP is a ****in' monster. His record doesn't prove him wrong.
at least we both agree its hype... thats what generates a false perception in people and leads to threads like these.
