Not if he walked into a Louis right hand as he was prone to do.

Why the hell would you extrapolate that from his size? You were just recently alive during the Nikolai Valuev era.

Right hands are nothing against a good grappler or wrestler

When he held the title he was obviously the best on paper.

Even in hindsight, I doubt that there could have been more than two better heavyweights, who were active at the time.

Either way, if you are the undisputed heavyweight champion, you are unlikely to have more success doing anything else!

Yes, the ankle injury screwed him as a fighter. He also suffered from acromegaly, so he could have never been as mobile and fluid as a modern SHW without a medical condition. He loved being a circus strongman and a pro wrestler more than being a fighter, but he had freakish strength .

Yeah but if the wrestler gets hit first, it's all for nothing. Boxing is considered one of the best types of fighting styles you can know that's directly transferable to street fighting. Most people don't know how to correctly throw a punch, look at some street fights on YouTube, so just knowing basic boxing technique will give you a big edge over most people. If you know how to punch correctly, you can end a fight pretty quickly.

I didn't say he would, I just said it looks like he should have been.

That’s only if the grappler manages to wrap the boxer up. I’ve seen Judokas, wrestlers, and sambo practictioners, etc... get knocked flat before by right hands.

Wrestling and jiu jitsu for street fights assume that it's a one on one fight and everything is fair. You should always attempt to be on your feet in a street fight if for nothing else you have to suddenly take off running for some reason. A well trained boxer can hypothetically take out several attackers with well placed punches, but he has to be standing up to do it. A wrestler can only handle one attacker at a time.

This. Most definitely. You never want to voluntarily go to the ground in a street fight. I’ve seen guys get their heads stomped on and taken away in an ambulance. Having had several boxers for roommates in the past they can definitely jack up several opponents. Non boxers really underestimate how fast boxers can get their punches off.

One of my former roommates, who used to fight at 168 knocked a guy out and his Rottweiler before either knew what hit them. If only he showed that type of eagerness in his official boxing matches.

My trainer has a black belt in both Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, but still prefers boxing in a street fight. However, grappling ability really comes in handy when trying to escape someone’s clinch or grip and also when someone’s too close a lapel grab is great for catching people off guard and getting them off balance.

Here is a former fighter fighting multiple opponents.

I agree with you BUT in a case where your rival does not how to wrest . actually everybody more or less know a bit of punches but few people know about wrestling or grappling, you can put a guy to sleep in 1 or 2 minutes but without blood.
The striker has a chance of the knock out, but generally it's 30% of the cases, 70% of times a good wrestler/ grappler beats a good hitter, it's simple how to cut the distance and grab him and start the job of killing his resistance on the floor and the likely ending is that he will be finished by arm lever, triangle, guillotine, mata león (rear naked choke). and probably finally he will get unconscious on the floor.
and khabib is the perfect example of this.

My trainer is 5 dan of judo and black belt in japanese jiu jitsu too. And a boxer has no chance against a good judoka, jiu jitsu fighter in a street fight, no better chance than a lucky ko punch.
I train boxing and i train grappling. The 70% of the time the guy who dominate the fight in the floor will win

Yes.it is the only department where the striking is better than wrestling/grappling. But i am talking 1 vs 1 obviously 1vs 5 is not a fair fight so i can use a gun 45 too lol
