The most of the times the grappler / wrestler beats the striker, boxing is a very limited combat sport i can't believe that in 2020 still there are people thinking that a boxer is going to beat a good wrestler in a free fight

Judo and Jiu-Jitsu definitely have their place, but I’ve seen too many guys get knocked unconscious trying to grapple on the floor in the streets and I’ve even seen a few judokas and a ton of wrestlers destroy their knees on the concrete while taking guys down. Also, being on the ground makes you too vulnerable for idiots looking to cheapshot someone.

To be fair it all depends. If we’re talking a legitimate competition with a controlled environment than the rules will determine who has the advantage. But, in a street fight when any idiot can cheapshot you going to the ground is too risky.

The rules? It was a vale tudo fight.. Judo against muay thai. And the striker could not ko the judoka so if a trained fighter could not do it much less could any idiot from the streets. I will tell you that if you get your back smashed against the cement it hurts much more than a punch in the face.
Did you know that Joe Louis and Mike Tyson were both challenged in their primes by Elio Gracie and Royce gracie to make a free fight and both boxers Louis and
    Tyson declined?

Mike Tyson about a fantasy fight against a bjj fighter

    "
Well, in ’93, I was in prison, so there wouldn’t have been a fight, but there is no way I would have won. I had no idea what was going on with that type of fighting and would’ve been taken by surprise”, Tyson said.

“I would have had to train in that particular art of fighting before that happened. That’s a particular art. You’re not going to go in there with just your hand and not have a great ground game. You also need a great wrestling game to be successful, and you won’t be exciting, as well. You have to have both games. You have to know how to wrestle and box. That’s just the truth.

From a medical standpoint it may have had to do with excessive hormones, possibly a Thyroid issue. But in that era, Endocrinolgist were probably not invented. Mainly a fighter was checked by the physician approved by the local boxing commission. Then again it may have been heredity.

Yeah, but at least you don't have to explain to the police why you bashed their face in!

That is a consideration if you work in a security occupation.

Carnera was not only huge, he was a good athlete for his size. Pro Wrestling WWE style requires one thing to be champion. Charisma and popularity for the hero's, or the reverse for the Villains. While the Wrestling moves and falls are real, the winner is scripted.

If he were around today, maybe Carrera would be a professional wrestler.

Primo had a sense of humor, sometimes being funny without noticing it. When a report asked Carnera what do you think of Hollywood, he made a fist and threw a punch saying, " I'll knock him out too "

No his size counted against him, he moved and punched in a clumsy fashion, he should have tried to shed some of his bulk, his punch technique was bad, Fury moves far better.

His body was more suited far wrestling than boxing, he was slow and easy to hit.

6'5 was considered huge in the 30`s because the averge man back then was much smaller than the average man today, Baer punched a lot harder than Primo who was too easy to hit to fight a good puncher.

No his size hurt his ability as a boxer, he was about the same size as Hulk Hogan who himself would be far too big and slow to box.

Well he was the best boxer in the world, or at the very least top three.

Do you think that he could have done the equivalent of that in any other sport?
