Im seeing the word in alot of threads here. But i dont think he did. It was a tough fight and he got punched by a very good opponant but then it is boxing. Or are some people just getting an erection over the fact he had a bloody nose? Ive seen Floyd struggling a little in the DLH fight and another couple and that fight just then wasnt a struggle it was just a good tough fight. But breaking it down it just seemed more of what you see in most fights from Floyd. He rolled with most the punches, beat Cotto to the punch most of the night and won the rounds with sharp smart punching, angles and movement. The only thing that was different was the fact he chose to be more offensive again and that meant he had to take a bit more. But i didnt really see him struggle and all in all considering the tactics he decided to use it looked like it pretty much went to plan for him.
I think at times he was getting frustrated cause Cotto would put his arm under his at the arm pit and use it to kind of "corral" Floyd into the ropes. Other than that, it was another day in the office. His sparring session with Omar Henry was very similar, so he trained for this.
I think 'frustrated' is a good description...which applied to one or two rounds only. Floyd kept his cool though and was never actually troubled.
He didn't "struggle" how the hell can someone who wins 10 rounds out of 12 be described as "struggling"? B.S. He did have to fight, but guess what? It was a ****ing boxing match.
When Floyd is on his bike, you wont see him struggle, when you see him fight it kinda look he's struggling...
neither did the idiot commentator on the tv post i watched the fight, cheering after May's combinations that hit the air or were blocked entirely He got pushed to the corner, kept there being under constant fire, did not counter at all the entire fight and that should be his usual game right? He probably got a lousy accuracy % want me to continue? I would call this struggling...
I dont think he struggled, Cotto just came to fight.... It was a good fight I liked the work Mayweather did in the centre of the ring and his offense in general. I think he landed the much more dangerous punches. All together a good fight.
His only struggle was getting through Cotto's tight defense which was the best I've seen from him, he stuck to the game plan well but I thought he could have opened up more when it was clear he couldn't win on points, but when he did in the 12th Mayweather wobbled him. Cotto came out of it with a lot of credit, he's got plenty left in him that's for sure.
