I don't think there is anything to prove in a rematch. It would be different maybe if it was a split decision or there was contraversy, Martinez was the clear winner, the better man won, should be end of imo.

Sergio would take his beating and pay check like a man. Then thank Mayweather for giving him the opportunity to fight.

ok, floyd is one of my favourite fighters but lets be real here.. If an oldish mosely was able to time and counter mayweather and hurt him as he did then i can't see no reason why sergio couldn't do the same but more effectively.

I do not disagree...however I always find it funny how people build up guys after a few wins and claim this or that guy has Floyds number...it's a joke...

Martinez is a challenging fight because of his size, movement, & stamina...however when they get in the ring people will quickly realise how much faster Money is than Martinez...I truly believe by the 5th or 6th round Martinez would be behind on the cards...

Good post by the way brother:thumbsup

Originally I wasn't that convinced in martinez but he has grew on me. I just happen to think that he may just be one step too far for even mayweather due to size, power and punch out put etc. Yes i see mayweather winning the early rounds but just feel he would be caught with something big. However, if he can fight with the movement he used in his prime then it may well be a long night for sergio chasing shadows.

If mayweather were to fight martinez at a weight both were comfortable at and beat him then I would give floyd massive respect.:deal

    Nice chatting with you fella:good

I think Floyd beats him. The problem Martinez has is you can't fight with your hands down like he does against Floyd because Floyd is too fast and precise, he would tag Martinez all night, could you imagine how many lightning fast jabs he could land. Secondly the weight would be a key factor. I really think Martinez would struggle to make 154. Martinez is bigger than people think. He walks around in the 170s, 30 days before the Chavez fight he was 176 and he has a very low body fat. Coming down to 154 , he would lose a lot of muscle and strength. That weight loss could effect his punch resistance. It's very possible Floyd may knock out Martinez, Floyd may not be a real huge puncher but he's fast and accurate, a lot of the time, it's not just the power of a punch which hurts you , it's the speed and accuracy of it, which can hurt you and Floyd fast and accurate. If he's able to keep landing on Martinez, the punches are going to a lot out of Martinez and martinez may not be able to keep taking them for the whole fight, Especially if the weight loss decreases his punch resistance.

True in that I think the low guard could be a problem for Martinez with somebody with such fast hands as Mayweather, but Martinez is fast himself and moves very well, with better footwork at this stage in Mayweater's career. Mayweather hasn't fought somebody with Martinez's speed/agility in a long while. Hard to tell the effects going to 154 would have on Martinez, but Mayweather struggled (relatively) against Cotto and De La Hoya at 154 so Martinez could certainly cause him problems. I think it would be quite hard to call

Would be an extremely tough fight for Floyd....its hard for me to even come up with a gameplan that would benefit him throughout the fight.

Sergio can come forward...he has great movement, turns his fighters...uses his reach at times...has a GREAT str8 to the body he uses with a one two combo jab up top str8 to the body or he just throws the str8 single shot....and he is LEFTY.

Nightmare of a fight for Floyd....i think he can hold his own skill for skill. I always felt it would take a fighter who has physical attributes that are better or simmilar like height and reach that would beat him.....Sergio has that PLUS VERY GOOD SKILL ....plus SPEED and POWER.

Be a hell of a fight.

Martinez is a full blown middleweight...Floyd at 147 is coming to the ring at 150...He's just too small.
