Three belts and linear at 200pounds plus 2 wins over top15heavies is not hype. It's a genuine ability that should be watched because he might be able to do what he says he can.

But put it into perspective. The HW division is THE marquee division of boxing. And for a while now it's been as dull as ****. Finally we have a guy who at least is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

And for what it's worth (in the HW division, it's a lot) he puts his 2 cents in. And he does so in a refreshing manner. Yes you can call it "trash talk" - but done well and it can garner some much needed publicity and attention.

Haye's entry into the HW echelons wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic if he hadn't made these grand proclamations. From his point of view, for better or worse he's mouthing off. But from our point of view (the fans) he's injecting some much needed life in the division.

Barrett is a gatekeeper to the heavies - no-one was ever arguing he was the be-all or end-all. But a fair few gave good ol' Monty a shot even then... and Haye acquitted himself reasonably well all things considered.

If you think that all of the above is a bad thing - then I'm afraid I don't share the sentiment.

Don't woory this super hype is common in fighters from the UK, like Hatton, Harrison, Khan ect, the only one that they didin't hype at first was Joe Cal and is the one that have achieve more. Uk fighter are achived by Uk fans into oblivion.

Can't wait for Haye's next move, I hope both Wlad and Vitali make it past their next opponents. I think Haye should stay active and have 2 more fights before taking on Wlad. So far, I've enjoyed the ride immensely.

He came to fight and took out a relatively durable guy within 5 rounds.

At least he didn't say he's "all that", only to get starched or to win/lose via narrow decision.....

I agree, Haye is good to watch, Win or Lose (I doubt he'll fight to any draws!)
    :D

Tough to say (until he fights Wlad) if he "naturally" punches as hard as Sanders. It's a shame that Sanders wasn't American, if so he might have been more serious about his boxing career. "He could have been somebody...."

David is obviously a "Better" fighter than Sanders, but the Klitschko of today is also better!

Hey you got 17,000 posts and seriously think that Tomasz Bonin is/was a Top15 heavy? He is not even a Top150-Heavy:D
And Barrett is far from a Top15er. Maybe Top50.

In the HW Haye is up to now pure hype. His two wins in the HW mean ****.

After seeing that fight on Setanta, nobody should complain about Lampley or Merchant or HBO, the bias was unreal!!

To be fair this time around the whole Haye hype/hysteria has been fairly low Key. It's not like when he beat Enzo where the whole Hayemaker thing exploded! Truth be known Enzo is probably no better then Barrett.

Haye definitely brings some excitement to the division which can only be a good thing. Unfortunately, his flaws are all there for everyone to see. Without a defense, he will be ko'ed the first time he gets properly tagged. A shame really, because it is something that could be easily corrected starting with that sloppy low left lead.

Bonin was never top 15, he may have had a belt ranking, but there bogus, he is probably around top 75, i can accept Barrett being top 15, but Bonin no way.

But people shouldnt dismiss Haye, he has achieved a lot in only 23 fights,
3 belts at cruiserweight and a european title, and lets not forget he had a very good amateur pedigree aswell, the kid is class, he wont beat Vitali, but he could beat everyone else!!!

It's not so much that i buy into the Haye hype but he is a very credible fighter. He is Undisputed at cruiserweight after all. But there is no denying the excitement he has reinstalled into the HW division! Think about it, everyone in the world either wants him to win or to lose, and because he is capable of both winning or losing easily he has perhaps become the single most exciting fighter in boxong.

But the HBO team are very Biased when it's usa vs whoever ? look at the jones fights they had ridiculous comments like

"Jones is making calzaghe look like a washed up trinidad"

Anyway the UK Boxing commentators always suck only decent one ever was Harry carpenter.

They are just pumped for the fights like your typical fan would be and show emotion and patriotism at least.

This hype train will be derailed badly the moment Haye takes a solid shot on those shaky whiskers from a top HW. A KTFO waiting to happen.
