Great point about the gas tank. During the No Mas Chenko years opponents were draining themselves with anxiety about being worn down. After the Lopez fight, opponents are thinking "a guy with a suspect gas tank got his big chance in round 12" and that positive mindset helps them.
Not going to happen. The first half will not be a timid loss for Lomachenko even if he ends up losing more rounds than he wins.
Loma is not prime, I'd say he's entered post prime at this point but post prime Loma is almost like post prime Floyd and Manny (not quite but almost). He's still better than mostly everyone around him. His problem is that at his weight, he's post prime against a bunch of elite, twitch fiber athletically gifted guys and when you slow down just a little, that's the small opening those types need to beat you. Loma isn't just a gifted boxer, he's also a gifted athlete who had elite timing, eyes etc.....so him slowing down, even just a smidge, and then slowing down against bigger, stronger guys is gonna be a problem. That's why people (including myself) are picking Haney. Loma is still gifted and good enough to beat damn near everyone in the division, but the top of that division is just as athletically gifted as he was in his prime, and bigger (and the loss to Teo showed this). Disclaimer: I love Loma and actually thought he was p4p number 1 for a time, young lions retire older lions though
Age and size difference will matter because Loma is not a Pacquiao type of brawler. He boxes. Word to Salido.

In his prime Pacquiao had 1 loss and 1 draw. Which was to Morales and Marquez respectively. Pacquiao is cut from a different cloth than Loma. Even though Loma is more skilled than Pacquiao he was never on Pacquiao's level because he never had Pacquiao's heart and guts inside the ring. In neither his loss to Morales nor his draw to Marquez did Pacquiao cheat himself or leave anything to chance. He walked right through bombs and gave it everything he had in an attempt to separate them from their senses. He just came up short in those fights. Loma is a guy who will not reach inside himself in those deep reserves when it is needed. His losses to Salido and Lopez showed that. He will not walk through fire to land.
Size matters, boys. Just saying. This will be Loma's final appearance in the ring. After he loses a comprehensive and non controversial decision it will be time to hang up the gloves after a long and illustrious career.
I disagree with you about the Salido fight. Knowing what we know about Loma, you can't tell me he couldn't have boxed circles around Salido that night. I honestly believe Loma was offended by Salido's blatant disregard to making weight and wanted to show him that his size didn't matter and fought straight up with him. In that fight Loma showed grit and toughness. Although it was a stupid game plan.
He also learned to protect that dick. Salido gave him years of experience in one fight. Lomachenko hasn't been low blowed in years because of it. Elbows, headbutts, crotch shots, Siri did everything but bite him. I was hoping that Broner would learn this after Maidana but no dice.
