I dont believe Hagler vs Hearns to be the best fight of the fab 4 fights

The first round is one of the best rounds of all time and it certainly is a spectacular fight. However, it is clear after the first round that Hagler is going to win with the injury to Hearns. It is a very short fight too, I believe it gets too much credit . I believe the Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard first fight to be a much better fight. Leonard tries to KO Duran and they both make it an equally exciting fight but it lasts for 15 rounds. The two fights between Hearns and Leonard are equally as good as Hagler vs Hearns. The second Hearns vs Leonard fight is a brilliant fight but gets over looked because both fighters are perceived as old.

In conclusion there are several fights at welter and middleweight that are equally as good as Hagler vs Hearns from that era. Hagler vs Hearns may have the best round but in my view Duran vs Leonard in Montreal is a much better fight.

Wasn't even the best war of Hearns career.

You have a point. But I think they're all a bit overrated du to the namns involved. Barrera-Marquez tops all of them imo. First Toney-McCallum too. Marquez-Vasquez fights, Barrera-Morales fights, Castillo-Corrales... There are quite a few I'd put even or above in terms of action and technical.

Hearns-Hagler is nice because it's short.

I agree with you, Hearns broken right hand in the opening round ended this fight. Marvin Hagler then ran from the rematch.

    Perhaps you're confused.
Hagler didn't run from Hearns but he did across the ring in round 3 to deliver the final blow.

I think Hearns/Leonard I was the best fight of the fab 4.

Frankel insisting Hearn's broken hand made any difference in the outcome. LOL. He hit Hagler with his best rights and nothing happened to Hagler, but Hearns crushed his hand on Marvin's granite head. Hagler runs over Hearns 10/10 times.

You get no argument from me, and your reasoning is sound. I also agree the 1st Duran/Leonard fight was better, especially considering the pace and sheer "bad intentions" both fighters had that night. Also the 1st Leonard/ Hearns fight was better in my opinion. After that 1st round in Hagler vs Hearns, Hagler steamrolled Hearns, and their was little question that that would be the final result.

    I agree with this.

All the fights between those four guys were great in one way or another and I don't particularly have a favorite but, for all-round appeal, Hearns/Leonard I pretty much had everything.

Hagler-Hearns was a very good fight albeit short but sweet. No I don't think it was THE best one out of the ones that the Fab 4 gave us. In my opinion that accolade goes to Duran-Leonard I or Leonard-Hearns I.
