Yes you heard me right. I understsnd the abillity to take a punch matters in boxing. However this not reflect one's skills in a boxing ring.
You cant go very far with a glass jaw, its a huge disadvantage mentally (knowing that you are vulnerable) and physically. It just means that your opponent is always in the fight and they are one good punch away from winnin I'm not sayin you cant win titles with a glass jaw (RJJ is living proof), but it makes your job a hell of a lot more difficult
it is harder in boxing with a glass jaw your mean job is to pretect your chin but u also have to fight its hard u have to be able to do both
lol someone always gotta throw in the Wlad and RJJ names when a chin thread comes up ahah...*******s...RJJ didn't have a weak chin lol...Wlad....maybe not the best but not too bad. Even when Sanders whooped him his eyes were clear....just his legs were gone. And we all know that in the Brewster fight somebody dipped his ***** in motor oil...so come on...get your balls off Wlads chin lol
anyone can get knocked out. some peeps cant break an egg, some have the stamina of johnny vegas , some guys have the speed of a chelsea pensioner. doesnt matter. anyone is still in the fight who ever they are against. chin alone mean nish. it means you can get hit...great but still not the point of boxing.
if someone with a glass jaw can have a succesful career all the more to them. you gotta have great drive and great resiliency to be able to make it it with weak whiskers
I was part of the contingent who used to scorn Khan, not just because of his jaw - but because it seemed he was this protected, hyped commodity who had neither the skills nor the punch resistance to really excel at an elite level (you don't necessarily need both, but having neither really should disqualify you from getting licensed...let alone sold as a NBT). Under the right tutelage, he has refined the former to the point where the latter is irrelevant and made a believer out of me. :good
