I don't feel casuals will buy the PPV for Kovalev vs Ward (if the fight happens)

Literally two weeks apart. Gameplan is for Cotto on HBO PPV the first week in December. Net result is 3 PPV's in a one month period.

Definitely should not be a PPV. Guessing 150-200K buys at most.

Ward's not a big draw outside of Oakland, and Kovalev's not close to as popular as Golovkin, and Golovkin's ppv bombed. This is a great fight, a legacy-defining fight, but it's a hardcore boxing fan's fight. It doesn't have any interest to the casual fans who are familiar with Mayweather, Pac, maybe Klit, Canelo, GGG. I don't think it gets 300,000 buys in the US, and no way it gets close to 500,000.

If this is well hyped and both put in their apperances to promote the fight, it could do 300-350k at best (though i'd say 250k). But if it's just the bog standard promoting, I can see 150k at best.

I agree. It doesn't seem like HBO has put enough into it anyway and that might be because they are not sure it will happen either.

Just "Seen" an article sayin that Roc nation is waiting on the NBA schedules to be released for the upcoming season for venue availability.

Jay wants MSG but Knicks haven't released yet, Obviously Brooklyn us in play... also Oracle. (Not sure why T-Mobile is not on their agenda??)

It might sell, but some fights don't need to sell ppvs.

I thought that yesterday they said that T Mobile would be the site. Did you see this recently?

I think that the fight could do 300k, and while GG is more popular than Kov, he isn't respected like Kov. Just had to add that. Why, I don't know.

Seems like they want all those other venues FIRST (Priority) but will do T-Mobile if those other venues are not avaliable. That's what I got out of that article.

300k is an absolute home run if they can get it. I just don't see that being possible.

3 HBO PPV's in a month, sandwiched by Pac and Cotto, smack in the middle of college football season is suicide.

Roc is going to effectively be cannibalizing themselves putting Cotto and Ward so close together.

Ok. I saw late yesterday where they talked to Jay-Z and others involved with Ward and heard that they were ok with T Moblie after people stepped in to calm both sides down.

I go over this on the latest episode of our podcast (ill post it later). The two other guys on the show were salivating at the matchup, but like I predicted with Crawford vs Postol, this fight will be more tactical than it will a war. Sometimes in superfights the record is what makes it so big, but the styles dont always make it super. Really hope Im wrong, but I feel this being a tactical matchup that would more likely than not, bore someone who doesnt understand human chess.
