"Casuals" don't buy any boxing PPVs. I don't know why people keep bringing up whether "casuals" would buy this fight or that one.

"Casuals" bought Mike Tyson PPVs. "Casuals" bought Oscar De La Hoya PPVs. "Casuals" bought Floyd Mayweather PPVs.

    THAT'S ABOUT IT.

"Casuals" don't buy boxing PPVs period. They bought those cards with those guys because the Tyson, Oscar and Floyd were stars beyond the sport and their fights were BIG EVENTS. The performances themselves were even secondary, most of the time. It was the EVENT they were buying.

Everyone else draws the same tens or hundreds of thousands buys, depending on the matchup, and those all come from die-hard boxing fans. Not just random sports fans.

2 top 10 p4p are unknown to majority casual fans (lack of activity, small fanbase) this is why this PPV will flop

Everyone else doesnt draw the same at all. There's a big difference in the selling power of Pac, Canelo, and Cotto compared to everyone else when it comes to U.S. PPV.

This fight is in between 2 of the only 3 PPV draws left over the course of just one month.

No casual will buy any Ward fight, casuals at least want the illusion that they will be entertained, Ward doesn't even give casuals that.

Ward is very talented but seriously boring and has the charisma of a skid mark.

This fight should not have been on PPV, should have been on regular PPV, but Ward wanted so much money that HBO reg. TV could not afford it...................

:nut At 500k they would generate close to 25mil.
Neither has ever generated half of that. Not even close.
More likely is a 100k to 200k mark. None of the PPV´s have done well this year, this wont either.
The undercard would have to blow it away.

:patsch Casual sports fans don´t care about the entertainment, at least not as much as they do about the event.
Floyd had some of THE dullest PPV performances of his time, yet he kept selling.

We could probably help shift a few sales by showing them highlights of one of these fighters

Will leave it up to you which one

Its another Crowford vs Postol kind of numbers , the "casuals" will say its another US vs Russia rivalery , it wont sell. but will be 2 elite fighters going at it , one of the best matchups the sport has to offer.

Why not? With the right promoting, this fight will do at least 375k.. these are 2 p4p fighters ffs.

    Look at what's surrounding it.

    Pac 2 weeks before.

    Cotto 2 weeks after.

3 HBO PPV's in a one month time span, and it's surrounded by 2 of the last 3 PPV draws left. The other PPV star is fighting just a couple months prior. It's a great fight, but it's taking place at the worst possible time.

This is a classic case of a fight that regular HBO would've been a perfect platform for, with the winner getting a PPV push.

I'd be surprised if it does 200k.
