Yes, and Cotto is a master at doing so. Cotto puts on a LOT of weight after the weigh in. Hatton is also good at putting on a lot of weight between the weigh-in and the fight.

I wish they would bring back same day weigh-ins to stop this crap.

Castillo weighted 153 and Hatton only weighted 149, he only put 9 lbs after the weightin thats not a lot. Freitas weighted 135lbs at the weight in for Raheem then weighted 151lbs the night of the fight.

I recall Cotto gaining something like 16 lbs for one of his fights, when he was at 140.

Not that it's entirely on topic, but Clottey gained 23 lbs on the eve of the Corrales fight.

:good There seems to be a lot of confusion about Hatton putting on lots of weight at 140, it simply isn't the case. His 5'6" frame is comfortable at the weight and as you say he was 149lb at fight time. Just because he eats and drinks like an alcoholic pig between fights it doesn't make him some sort of huge light welterweight.

Isn't 149lb exactly the same Floyd fought agianst DLH?

One of the most brutel beat downs I ever witnessed in boxing could be blamed for this practice of weighing in the day before the fight. For the Gatti vs Gamache fight HBO weighed both fighters before the fight, Gatti weighed 160 and Gamache was 145 and the difference showed when the punches landed.

Agreed that was simply disgusting, i have no respect for Gatti after that fiasco, it was convenient of HBO to skip the unofficial weigh in for PBF-DLH and Cotto-Judah when both fights contained a fighter which had an unfair weight advantage.

Seems pretty fair to me, both opponents knew exactly what the other guy would do, if they don't like being outweighed, go down a weight class, its not the other guys fault you don't cut weight.

You can lose alot of weight in a hurry in a sauna with plastics on.

Cotto also "looked" bigger when he was beating the shiit outta Zab. The pumbler starts to "look" bigger than the pumbled.

    It's all relative.
I see both those guys as very small but then again I'm of Heavyweight size.
