I don't get why people think a 70's Foreman beats a prime Tyson

If you knew anything about the participants, this wouldn't need to be spoon fed to you. Did you see Tyson against Razor? When he actually faced a guy with good power and decent skills and was pushed, he almost fouled out of that contest. He should've been DQ'd, and it was as if he was trying to get DQ'd. Look at the first Holyfield fight, HE calls over the doctor to look at his eye after a headbutt HE created. Holyfield was no angel, but the butt in question was instigated by Tyson. You could see as the fight progressed, he was mentally starting to crumble and was going to lose. We don't even need to get into the second fight and his total mental collapse. Look at his downward spiral after Robin? Does that stink of a guy who's mentally tough? He fell off the deep end. Does somebody who beats up his wife, robs old ladies crossing the street, rapes woman... does that sound like a guy who's mentally tough or all there? The bigger question here is, how could you be so wrong about Tyson and even think he's A LOT tougher than Foreman. Cite the Foreman incidents that compare to the above.

Ive said i like 5 times in this thread, one guy got off the floor to win against an aggressive, powerful fighter who wasnt afraid of him. This was after a layoff and devastating loss to an older perceived has been in a mentally devastating loss everone said he should have won.

When Tyson lost to a guy he "should have beat" he made every excuse under the sun, especially his fanboys and even his promoter kind tried t get the verdict reversed. His career went downhill from there, only having success against tomato cans and c level fightets like seldon and golota here and there and losing everytime he stepped up. Tyson NEVER got off the floor to win, never came back after being behind on the scorecards and making adjustments to win a decison either.

Foremans career was the opposite. After his second crumbling loss, gaining weight, getting old and being laughed at, he ignored the haters and somehow became the oldest champ after losing nearly every round and is now a millionaire for the second time after losing everyrhing. Keep in mind they both started in the ghetto with no money or positive role models so theres no excuse.

But tyson is mentally tougher...sure. believe what you want lol.

Fighting 5 guys in one night?

Well, there's one incident. Or rather one night of incidents, plural, that revealed to me Foreman was mentally off his rocker by pulling this comedy routine. Foreman's schtick boggles my mind to this day. What on earth was he thinking doing jumping jacks in center ring? He played the clown role in a circus rather well here.

And this is only one case he showed in public. The odd ball **** he said during HBO telecasts had his own mates Lampley and Merchant shaking their heads in disbelief.

I suppose it's better than breaking down in tears after every god damn interview you have. Tyson is about as mentality stable as Ted Bundy.

Foreman cameback to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World. Mike Tyson was the Champion so yea he called out Tyson. When he got his shot it was Holyfield who had the belt. It`s very simple.

I think Foreman regaining the title is due to clever matchmaking and being in the right place at the right time. Not sure how relevant it is to mental toughness. Tyson likely would have beat Moorer right out of prison.

Tyson didn't seem to mentally fold against tough opponents until the very end of his career vs Williams and McBride
