Nahh, It was a decent performance - He did what he had to do.

Wlad was a lil reluctant (as usual), and Thompson's not a bum. He's a hard worker, who just didn't have any asset other than his size.

I actually gave credit to Wlad for that victory.

But to all the Klithuggers screaming: MANDATORY!... Know this: Thompson was decided upon as a mandatory BEFORE Wlad fought Mormeck. That's what annoys me. Mormeck was justified, and now Thompson was justified.

Both disgustingly ridiculous mismatches.

Yet when Edison Miranda knocks out a tomato everyone goes nuts about how spectacular the punch he landed was and how it's "KO of the year" worthy.

I didn't see any Wladimir fan claim this win was great but the punch he landed in round 5 was worth bragging about even though everyone knows Thompson is no threat anyway.

No other fighter in the history of boxing has been criticized so much for 'taking too long' to deliver a knockout. I can't even recall someone being criticized at all for such bull****. 6 rounds to deliver a knockout--abominable! He only has 51 of them in 58 wins.

 

Vaugn Bean, who himself never beat a solid journeymen type, much less won an eliminator got not 1, but 2 title shots during the 90s.

Trevor Berbick would be KOd inside 2-3 rds vs the garbage man Potvetkin. Jerry Cooney would be calling his coke dealer telling him to be ready with the needle in 5 minutes before Haye KOd him.
Chisora would murder the likes of Lyle, Cooper, Bugner and that scrawny 6'3 165lb Jimmy Young. Sam Peter KO1 Ken Norton and Sonny Liston. Adamek would send Floyd Patterson down to LHW, then move down himself and KO him.
