I don't know how Ali managed to make it through this fight.

If you bang against heavyweights, your chin should be able take punches by heavyweights.
How about consider his style as well? It's like saying Sweet Pea and $'s chins were regularly tested at the entirety of their careers.
Now if he fought like Margarito then I'll have no problem agreeing with you.

Heart I agree, but chin, I still am not VERY impressed.
Recuperation is different from having an iron chin, mind you.
It's like saying JMM has an iron chin.

    It was his #1 asset.
If Ali would just have had an avarage chin he probably would have lost a couple of his major fights.

Good to know that you're slowly coming to your senses.:good

  5. Listen. He went down in the Frazier fight once while he was mid-movement therefore knocked off balance and got straight back up. He got caught flush several times in that fight and didn't go down. Watch the highlights again. They are posted right there in this thread and then question his chin. If you still don't think its not been tested. I refuse to continue a discussion with you as it would be pointless.

    Suspect chin?

    Puh-lease!!

It was his granite chin that allowed him to take so many hits in sparring that he's ended up the way he is :deal

Anybody who hasn't watched that full fight, treat yourself. One of the best HW fights I've ever seen.
Joe was peaking in that fight and Ali was just coming back and had just two fights prior. He got hit with some murderous left hooks throughout the fight, right from the start. I'm not sure how he took all those to the body, let alone the head. Most guys would have folded long before. He did get flattened with a good one in the 14th, and after taking murderous shots for 14 rounds already willed himself to finish the fight somehow. That is why Ali was such a great fighter, he had iron will. That's just a great fight.

Two excellent fighters, both willing to get into the ring to prove who the best in the world was. They came to fight. No rubbish about blood tests and needles, no ducking and diving. Just a great match between legends. It makes me feel ashamed of what the sport has become.

Paid-off referees were Ali's #1 asset. A great fighter regardless, but he DID lose a couple of his major fights. - just not officially.

Frazier, who hates Ali, says he's flat out in awe if it's about Ali's chin. Chin and the way he could move ("dancing", reflexes) were the only things he appreciated in Ali as a fighter.

Ali's chin is unquestionable. That said, it didn't do him much good in the longer perspective. Sometimes I think Golota did good quitting against Tyson etc, if you know what I mean...

Ali's chin is 10/10 as is his heart, one of the most impressive things in boxing is him coming back up from that punch, not just getting up but how easily he gets up in a few seconds.
