I dont know what fight u watched but Pavlik Lost!

Kelly didn't seem to still have the fighting spirit. I think he really needs a change of scenery and trainers. There comes a time when a man has grown all he can grow in his current setting. I think Kelly has reached that point.

Many fighters have done it before him. No shame there.

 

I had it even. The two wide cards were shocking but not unexpected.

i was half watching this fight....and half watching the celts/heat game.....i didnt catch every punch....but i kept seeing kelly get popped....from what i saw he didnt look good....but basically just looked like the same old pav....limited

 

Lopez put up a good effort but Pavlik won that fight I think I gave Pavlik 7 rounds. This being a semi-close fight shouldn't be a surprise, Pavlik has been out of the ring a while and had personal issues. Lopez wasn't known but he looked ok and was a young undefeated fighter.

I don't think I'd pronounce Pavlik as being done quite yet, he clearly isn't performing at 100% and he is not ready for someone like Bute right now like he has been saying. Pavlik needs at least one more fight against someone who is a step up from Lopez but not a top guy. Bute and Kessler are both fighting in June/ July so Pavlik should look to fight late July early August again and he would be right on schedule to face either one late this year. Sitting around waiting for a big fight to come his way would be a bad idea and jumping in with a top fighter his next fight would be bad as well.

 

I have watched Pavlik/Lopez 3 times. The second and third time I turned the sound off so I did not have to listen to Berstien do his best impersonation of a Lopez cheerleader.

It is clear to me that Lopez tried to implement the "Hopkins Plan." Although he is a better fighter than most of us expected, he isn't good enough to make the Hopkins strategy work.

The Compu-box numbers were absurd. I doubt if Lopez connected more than 20%. If you took the time to watch the whole fight in slo-mo, and count punches, I would not be surprised to find out Pavlik connected over 50%.

There were a few close rounds, and Lopez had some 15-20 second spots where he looked good. Over all it was not a close fight. The rules of scoring give precedence to "clean effective punching." On that basis the two wide score cards were good scores. How the hell Adelaide Byrd came up with a draw is a complete mystery to me.

I would very much like to see more of Alfonso Lopez. I think he is a match for Brian Vera, Dyah Davis, Fransisco Sierra, and others on that level.

 

i need to watch this fight again, but my first impression is that the fights was a draw!!

Pavlick may of lost, but gets the Win - he is backing up that nickname The Ghost !

 

Wide on two cards and 'the broad' preferring twinkle toes a bit.

 

Yea I did notice Lopez trying to do a stick and move plan ala Hopkins, but couldnt handle Kelkys pressure at the end. Thats where Kellys experience kicked in, but FFS do something about your defense or upperbody movement Kelly hasnt changed abit. Dude has heart, but no brains Loew should of stood at the sidelines or,replaced a long time ago.

I saw it the same way.
For 1st fight back against a live opponent, Pavlic did a pretty good job.

 

I think the two wide score-cards were ridiculous, since Pavlik really didn't start getting untracked until the middle rounds. And Lopez did have a nice comeback round in the 8th, and did well enough in round 9.

But even though it was basically one punch at a time, and even though KP was content to follow Lopez around the ring for much of the fight, he did land the cleaner, harder shots, and cemented the victory by closing strong in the 10th round.

I had Pavlik three points clear (6-3-1). Pavlik did win the fight and deservedly so. But he didn't win every round. Not even close. So I can see where the TS is coming from, at least to some to an extant. 96-94 is probably a lot closer to the truth as far as this fight went than 100-90, or 99-91. Pavlik gave away too many rounds in the early portion of the fight for it to be called a shut-out, as far as I'm concerned.

 

KP landed the cleaner, more effective, heavier punches....crap fight....

 

If that's the case then you have serious problems scoring a fight. Just being direct. If the fight was a twelve rounder I have little doubt Kelly would have won the last two rounds and probably knocked him out as Lopez was fading fast after he started getting hit. As it was the fight was not close enough to be even mildly controversial.

edit: I see you came to your scoring senses and yes KP needs to avoid the top dogs at 168 unless he changes things up.
